(S17E10) "This is going to be the funkiest night of your life. Wait for it. Wait for it." - Sugar
All in all, I found tonight's Survivor episode one of the most satisfying ones to date. And, that's talking a lot of episodes since I'm talking starting from the first season. Since I watch and write about so many reality television shows, I usually try to step back a bit and not get really involved in whom I want for the win or the folks I emphatically want booted sooner rather than later. That way I'm neither disappointed, nor do I personally jinx things. But I couldn't have planned tonight's episode any better than it went down. Read on!
When bad Randys go even worse
I don't like Randy. I haven't liked him since the season premiere. He's annoying, a bully, nasty, and I don't know why anyone would want him as their wedding photographer either! So, when his plan was to behave even worse tonight, I didn't think it was possible. Oh, but he did it. We've seen the "act bad so they'll vote me off" ploy used on other reality shows before with the ultimate goal not to be voted off. But Randy was so certain that Bob had the hidden idol from Exile Island that his plan was to stay while making buffoons of all of those castaways he despises so much. Well, he's the buffoon indeed. But I knew that all along.
I'm liking the Sugar-Bob quasi-alliance
Sugar is shaping up to be my favorite castaway this season. It's like she's naive about playing the game, yet truly very aware of gameplay and reads people well. Bob is my sentimental favorite as he's just such a cool guy with his now dirty bow-tie and all. He'd be such a longshot for the win, but I think he might have a chance in the finals now that he's hooked up (not in that manner!) with Sugar. He also reads people well and I think he knows that the inherent evilness from Corinne and Randy won't help him in the game unless he's in the final three with them -- and that's just not likely.
When Bob approached Sugar to tell her about the fake idol he made which no one else knows about at all, I had to fist pump. Yes! Then, as the episode went on, all the pieces fell in place. Sugar trusted Bob enough to get him to flip, giving Randy the fake idol as they voted him out. With Randy and Corinne trusting Bob's idol and so sure of it all, it was the best blindside ever at Tribal Council!
No way should Sugar ever be a poker player because she was giggly all through the Tribal Council. Only she and Bob knew what was going to go down, but Bob just looked very contemplative, then perhaps a bit guilty as it was revealed that the idol was a fake.
Cookies and immunity
The auction is usually fun-filled, but Randy kind of squelched all of the fun for this one. I couldn't believe his cookie rant, could you? Until Jeff reminded him the cookies were for the tribe, he had no plans to give the other folks any cookies. Well, maybe a cookie to his buddies, but that was it. I'm glad Sugar stood up to him. That girl has gumption for a pin-up blond Betty Boop doppelganger!
I'm not so surprised that Kenny won immunity. After all, he is a gamer. If Bob had held in in the first part, he might have made it on his physics knowledge. As for Kenny, he's kind of a weasly little rat sans any real personality, but he's playing the game well and he's only mean to mean people (so far).
The tribe has spoken
This was the most priceless Tribal Council ever! From Crystal knowing something was about to go down, but not what to Sugar's uncontrollable chuckling, it was downright perfect. Even Marcus and Charlie on the jury had to crack up about Randy's demise. Corinne looked uncomfortable, as she should be. It's a good vs. evil kind of season and she's one of the ones on the "evil" side. I so enjoy it when mean people get their just dues. It takes me back to my childhood when I would wish it would happen yet the mean folks often ruled the roost.

I have to fully agree. This episode was one of the best EVER on Survivor.
I was only hoping for a much bigger reaction from Randy.

I truly enjoyed this episode. Althought the whole tribal council was fantastic, it was Corrinne winking to Marcus and Charlie trying to tell them that they just made an unbelievable move, which was the most priceless part of the whole thing for me. Then 30 seconds later Jeff declaring the idol a fake.
The reason I liked this episode was because for the first time we the audience were in on the gag. For the most part on Survivor they leave things ambiguous and we are often guessing until Jeff says that the tribe has spoken. BUT this time we were in on the gag and we were able to see the set up of this fantastic plan by Sugar.
I knew she was no dumb player when she got the immunity idol on the first shot, but tonight was almost as good as a few seasons ago when James got played badly when he left holding 2 immunity idols. Tonight was a fantastic episode and although this show has been on forever it still manages to be some of the best television on the air still to this day.

Randy was definitely an ass this season and finally got his due. I just don't like anyone left though. Probably just Matty. I just think that he is at least not gloating that his alliance is in power while all the stupid girls are. Weren't they just complaining about Marcus and Randy a couple episodes ago. Spare me the "what comes around goes around."

why did Bob vote for Susie? He already made an enemy of Randy, so why ruin a relationship with someone who is still in the game? Anyone?

He voted out susie so that next time, he can say that he honestly thought that was the real idol and he is still on Corrine's side, just in case he makes it further and needs her on the jury.

I can't wait until the winner is announced and randy talks about tonight during the after show ('cause you know that they will bring up this tribal council.) Ah man, that should be great. I was laughing sooooo hard, and sugar giggle just made me laugh even more. Ah it was great. ::hopes sugar or kenny wins::

That is so weak. Look, Randy might have said some bad things, but he is who is, and came right out and said it in the first episode. He's not the kind of guy who's constantly chatting on his cell or texting tons of people. He's like, "Leave me alone." Believe it or not, there are people who are comfortable in their own company, and are hardly worried about "dying alone." And I bet he doesn't make a bad wedding video either. Loners are good editors.
Rather, Sugar and the rest are the villians here. I liked Sugar a lot up until now, but that stunt was mean and vindictive!. And I think the rest were told about it too, they were all snickering and laughing - so weak. Except for Bob. You're spot on about Bob. He did it to survive, but he's is too classy not to have deep second thoughts about showing someone up like that. His vote for Susie shows he's upset with it, and I think it will just gnaw at him. And I don't Sugar is necessarily going to reciprocate. If she does, by giving him the idol, then she will have redeemed herself.

Yeah he is who he is: an idiot, an asshole and a bigot.
You should re-watch all the episodes. He gets off on almost everything. He bitches about the other people all the time and with that justifies his absolutely asinine behavior. He thinks it is his right to hate everybody, "tell on them" when they do something he doesn't like and bitch about it to no end later on. He behaves as if he's the only person on the planet and all the others are stealing from him - the air he breathes at least, and everything else they do is "on top" of that.
Look at what he did with the cookies. He was told they are for the tribe, still he asks whethe he can do with them what he likes. He would've eaten them all himself if you ask me if he would've been allowed to and even if not then he asked to know if he would be allowed to give them to the people HE likes and if not that then AT LEAST to hand them out as if the 20 bucks he just spent were one of his kidneys or something like that. Sugar instantly noticed that and said she didn't want a cookie with THAT premise - a cookie from a guy who is so full of himself and even though nothing justifies it wants to hand out cookies as a favor or even better, as if people need to be thanksful for him to have spent 20 bucks, the lowest amount possible, on them. So she said no thanks but Randy, stupid as he is, had a cookie left and thought (bright person that he is) that Sugar would again refuse to take a cookie when it was the last one left. He didn't even notice that SHE noticed he didn't get one. She KNEW that THAT was the LAST cookie, RANDY's cookie, and THAT is why she took it away from him. HE thought she would refuse again and that he could get off on that later on, that she's a stupid little girl behaving like a spoiled brat, not taking the greatest bestest gift in the world from the guy you're supposed to be thanking.
Everything Randy did totally bit him in the ass because he's selfrighteous, a bigot and totally full of himself. He's so dumb he doesn't even notice that that "stupid blond bimbo barbie" he so hates, that all his prejudices towards Sugar are absolutely wrong. He's so fast to judge and so full of himself that he doesn't notice until the end how much he got played. He can't think further than the next telephone pole and up until his demise is so happy with himself that the reason he doesn't really react to all of it is because, if you ask me, he doesn't UNDERSTAND it AT ALL what just happened. That's how daft he is.
And the reason, I guess, why you defend him, is because he's open with what he thinks.
That's all good and all right as long as you aren't a total prejudiced asshole totally full of yourself. It's all nice and ok if the other option is to be secretive and if you are mean behind other peoples back. If being openly asinine and an ass is what you admire about Randy then I guess you have a strong personality and would simply call Randy out on his BS if it was directed towards you, and either get along with him downing some cold ones or hate him forever "but at least you know what he thinks" I guess compared to not knowing what a person thinks or does.
But seriously, honestly: Randy is an ass. And he needs to know that the way HE behaves is like a spoiled brat. He embodies all HE makes Sugar out to be. That's what made the whole thing so extremely sweet. The roles were totally reversed.

Bob voted for Susie for one reason, to cover his ass with Randy (on the jury) and Corinne. He could then tell them that he had found what he thought was the hidden immunity idol during his time one Exile Island and that he had been fooled by it as well. If he votes for Randy then he lets them know that he faked the idol.
What really gets to me is that they thought that Bob had to have found the Idol after just two trips and it was totally impossible for Sugar, who had made Exile her little beachside cabana after being there so many times, couldn't possibly have found it. That's the really stupid part.

Randy makes Richard Hatch look like a sweet, generous, kind hearted soul and that's not an easy thing to do.
It was a great episode, great tribal council, but I have to agree with Vic in a couple of respects. First, the way Matty, Kenny, Susie and Crystal reacted - laughing and showing no surprise whatsoever - seems to show they were in on what went down.
Second - it was a little mean and vindictive simply because it was unnecessary. They already had 5 solid votes for Randy. He was out no matter what. For that reason, I really don't think this was such a great play. Sugar could have kept Bob's secret and used the fake idol to her advantage at a much better time - like when her alliance needs to start turning on each other.
I don't begrudge them wanting to get back at Randy for his repulsive behavior (I still don't get why he thought he was entitled to decide how the cookies bought for the tribe were divvied up) and I loved the sheer entertainment value of it, but smart move? I'm not so sure.

p.s. - My favorite part was when Crystal intentionally raised her voice when casting her vote so that everyone could hear her comments (which were clearly directed at Randy).
In all the seasons of Survivor, I've never seen anyone do that before. It was hysterical!!

I am an avid fan and have watched each and every episode since the beginning...and this is my first comment. Never in my life have I ever known anyone as disgusting, obnoxious, hateful, unkind, rude, stupid and completely foul as Randy; he certainly will be the most pathetic juror in the show's history. It's a shame that classy people such as Marcus and Charlie now have to be subjected to this lowlife, poorest excuse for a human being and absolutely ridiculous choice for inclusion on the Survivor show!

Sugar "reads people well"? how stoned are u? She was lied to twice by the same guy and bought it both times. EVEN AFTER being told that the first one was a lie she still bought the second one. What a hoser.
This show is geting old, too many losers that are too quick to band together to eliminate the strong players.

If they are actually losers, what other strategy should they employ besides banding together against the non-losers?

I really am enjoying this season. The underdogs/losers now have the upperhand, and really, anyone that has gotten over-confident and downright pompus has gotten it in the end (except Kenny....though there's still time here). I really like how all the way through, there's this team winning everything..over and over and over. The losing team was just completely distraught...and it seemed like there was no hope. And then, things fell just the right way...Marcus, Charlie, Randy.....and within one episode, I went from thinking Crystal and Kenny were completely done for to seeing them take the upper hand.
My only complaint is that I really can't stand Crystal or Kenny or Suzie. They really are idiots and don't have "game" in them at all. Crystal was an olympic medal winner!! Have you ever seen her do well in a challenge? At the beginning of the season, I thought that she would be the one to beat based on her history, but she really stinks at everything. Not coordinated, not athletic, not smart. How did this woman win anything?
I want Sugar to win, though she has tendency to be a little too naive at times and she goes with her emotions waay too much. This is good to root for, but in the game, this will end your run quickly. Good luck Sugar...I'm rooting for you!

Is it just me or is Crystal just the least able person in Survivor history.
I don't think that there is a nice guy left among the Survivors. They are all snakes. Who do you guys think will win the fan Fav.
Looking forward to more interesting tribal councils

This was the best episode of this season!!! I have to agree with Crystal - Randy IS a troll!!! I would never want such a vile person around me, he exudes hatred and negativity. This was the best blindside yet. Bob did well with the "idol" - yes, he felt remorse for the double-cross, but he did the right thing. He's shown that he is a team player. I do not believe that Sugar is as naive as she lets on. She does have a tendency to show her emotions, especially when she votes a tribe member off. But that shows she's truly a good person and doesn't want to hurt others. It's true, that Crystal has not shown the athletic side I thought she should have, but that's okay, she's still in the game and that's what matters. Corrine is just as mean as Randy. She's not as vocal about things as he, but she is a conniving back-biter! But, she's basically alone now, can't wait to see how she tries to suck up in the future. Kenny has surprised me, he's stronger and more mentally focused than I thought. Maddy - I'm not so sure about, he's hard to read. One day he's with Randy, the next he's with Kenny, Crystal and Sugar - a little wishy-washy. I'd watch him. Suzie seems nice, but I'm not sure I'd want her with me at the end... Looking forward to the remainder of this season!
