Awww, Juliana, you don't want to come back to County?
Seems like we've been hearing news about old ER members coming back to the show for its final season, and now comes word from Juliana Marguiles. The actress says that she won't be coming back to the show because she thinks that Carol Hathaway left on a good note and she really can't see how they could top it. A lot of fans would probably say they don't want them to top the character's last appearance, they just want to see the character one more time before the series fades off into the sunset.
I can understand what she means in a way. Carol was one of the characters that actually made it out of County in a good way. She didn't die in an explosion or helicopter crash or from a brain tumor. She didn't get fired or quit in a nasty way. In fact, Marguiles' last episode, where she reunited with Doug Ross, was one of the most satisfying character exits in TV history, actually doing what longtime fans of Doug and Carol wanted them to do, get back together.
Oh well. Other vets are coming back. Anthony Edwards, Laura Innes, Paul McCrane, and Abraham Benrubi have already made appearances this season, and Noah Wyle and Eric LaSalle are still to come. Check back here every week for your Clooney updates.

This is disappointing to me - not to mention last week's episode. I'm sorry but focusing on Bassett's new character when there is only a small amount of screen time left is upsetting. I want to see more of what is going to go down with Nela, Sam, Morris and others! Bring on the old characters, but please, tie up the loose ends!

I was just thinking about how I hadn't heard whether she'd return. I don't think anyone cares if she ends on a higher note, but if George Clooney comes back, they'll need to at least say something about her character. So in essence, her character will be "there" in a way and revisited. In the end, it's her choice. It'd be nice to see her, but I see her point, too.

I think actors don't get how involved people get with their characters. I mean, how hard can it be to work out an appearance in a show? And to not do that is kind of like saying you don't care what your fans think.
I mean, if she read a script and didn't like the way her character was handled, that would be one thing, but to just say that there is no way to bring her character back in a satisfying way, is ridiculous. People would love to know what their chracters are up to. I'd guess that they want to see if her and Doug are still together.
I think a visit with the two of them and thier little daughter, even if it was just to drop by and say hi would be satisfying. I mean, they could easily be in the area for a conference, a visit or whatever.
I havent' watched the show in a few years, although I have caught a random episode and probably won't watch any of this years' epidsodes, but I think they ought to resolve and revisit as many of the beloved actors as possible.

Viewers who haven't seen an episode in years don't get to say who should come back or not. Most of the actors left the show because they were bored--the same reason you all stopped watching.
To boot, if you found out the place you had your very first job--McDonald's, for example--was closing its doors, would you want to go back for a couple of days and put an apron on?

very extreme analogy. mcdonalds pays minimum wage. these guys get paid tons of money. and its little to no effort.
mcdonalds is a terrible frustrating and annoying job. acting is basically getting paid to read stuff that other people come up with.
especially when most of the cast that are gone aside from george clooney are doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. there might be others but like i said i dont watch the show hes the only one i remember that is big now.

Not only that, but people don't have "relationships" with their customers at McDonalds, where as the fans of shows feel a type of relationship connection. Granted it is fake, but still.
And yes, when a bar I worked at closed, (Cheers type scenario) many of the old employees went back to say goodbye to the neighborhood regulars, etc.
