(S04E08) Man, I hate Woooo! Girls. And I'm pretty sure Bays and Thomas hate them too.
I mean, why would they devote an entire episode to them, then use them as a vehicle to demonstrate how both Robin and Ted (a WG by proxy) are currently single and rudderless in their lives? It was a nice little switcheroo, though; you go from being merely violently disgusted by the WGs at the start of the episode to really feeling sorry for them by the end. Oh, and rooting for that girl with the crush on Lily's friend Jillian to get her wish. But that's just me talking...
This wasn't a particularly memorable episode, but like most HIMYM episodes, even the average ones have their moments. And, no, none of them had anything to do with Sad Ted and the route he took to getting the job designing the new GNB tower. Sad Ted's not a fun Ted to watch, and Happy Ted ain't all that much better. No, the moments revolve around the other folks in the Scooby gang this week:
-- The Woo rhymes between Lily and Robin when Lily discovers her friend's Wooish tendencies. It was like watching an Abbott and Costello routine written by Dr. Seuss:
L: I heard you woo.
R: Saw who woo?
L: Saw you woo.
R: I didn't woo!
L: You did too!
R: That's not true!
L: Your nose just grew.
-- Robin on being Jillian being Wooish: "Maybe she just observes the High Holidays, like Mardi Gras and Spring Break. Maybe she's just a cultural Woo."
-- Barney's sprint out of Ted's apartment when Marshall tells him that there are Woo Girls around.
-- Marshall leaving Barney out to face the wrath of the pigeons. Heck, just throwing empty beer cans at them would be enough, but then he betrays Ted just to sit in that T. Rex building built by SVEN?
-- The SVEN collective really looked like NPH in triplicate, didn't it?
-- Marshall talkblocking Robin, even though he knows exactly what she was talking about before he showed up. That yeast infection must have been rough on Sherbatsky.
-- Jamie-Lynn Sigler as the head Woo Girl.
-- Lily in a tiny fire hat instead of a tiny cowboy hat.
-- And, of course, the Best Barneyism of the week: his treatise on the impact of Woo Girls on the economy: without them, the body glitter, souvenir shot glass, and stretch-Hummer rental industries would go out of business. Maybe not the same impact as GM going bankrupt, but at least the WGs wear those cute little cowboy hats. And who wants to hear just "Brown-Eyed Girl," anyway?
It just seemed like Bays/Thomas could have done better with the Woo Girls, didn't it? Given the disdain they had for them ("I've never had a second date!" "I cry in my shower!") and the near-universal hatred most men have for them, it could have been pretty fertile ground. Oh, well. Swing and a miss, I guess.

The memorable moment of this episode was Robin, admitting to Lily how lonely she is. I really felt for her in that moment. I thought this was one of the better episodes of the season. Love the pigeons holding grudges converging on Barney!

I agree about the whole robin thing but I think lily pushed robin into becoming a woo girl because as a best friend you should realize when your friend is feeling wooish. She should be you priority and not to some 2nd grade teacher named jillian.
After all, as Barney would say,"bros before hoes"

I really liked this episode. From the rhyming, to the T-rex building, to the pigeons, and yes to the Woo girls. We've all been woo girls. I know I have.
Robin feeling lonely and lost makes me weepy. Come on Barney, sweep her off her feet damnit.
Question... did anyone else think Ted had a little 3some action that night? It would explain the odd way he ended his narration with his kid. He sort of trailed off with a "yeah that was a good night..." and then the girls looking for Ted in the end. Hm...

Unfortunately Ted said that they tied Barney to the mechanical bull and then left for the night. So Ted was probably long gone when the two girls were looking for him. And Barney of course was completely dizzy by then. Too bad, he could have ridden the tripod (again?)

I think this was one of the funniest episodes of the season if not the show. There were so many moments I was laughing out loud, Svens presentation, the rhyming, the conference calls, all of it was priceless

I loved Robin and Lily in this episode - especially their Woo rhymes. I also got a kick out of Marshall at the bar.
“I dont think there is any alcohol in here at all.”
“Where did you get that hat?”
“What hat?”
Enjoyable episode and I hope Robin gets to be happy soon.

Ted did have a threesome, it was talked about in a previous season, and now we finally know how it happened since it was never revealed.

Did anyone else think the word play between Marshall and Barney:
B: "I picked it... it... it breaths fire, Marshall!"
M: "Fire marshal"
B: "Ahh, hahaha, I didn't even know that..."
M: "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS..."
felt like Jason Segel (and NPH) fell out of character for a second and they decided not to cut it out?
Especially with all the rhyming going on in the show, and NPH's comment "I didn't even know...".

I thought that word play was better than Lily and Robin's actually.

Don't be so quick to discount the Woo Girls....every party needs some and when you truly need a Woo Girl, nothing else will do. Heck, I would have been right behind NPH in scooting on down to the bar when told there was a gaggle of them in play.
All that being said, you don't want to keep one around for too long.....

I stopped watching this after season 2 but I've been tempted to get back into it... mostly because of Barney's Star Wars related quote I read somewhere.

Big shocker there Joel, I enjoied this episode. It seems if I think it's so-so, you love it and vice verse...
which just speaks to the level of this show. It has something for everyone.
Anyway... Just one question: Who wouldn't want to sit in a T-Rex's head?

Two things I forgot about: The Mad Men references during one of Marshall and Barney's "conference calls":
B: "We *are* Mad Men..."
M: "Yeah, it's just like the show."
B: "What show?"
Also, notice Barney took a backwards look at Robin as she entered the bar in her Wooish finest? Was it because he mistook her for a Woo Girl or was that one of his subtle "I so love Robin" looks?

I liked the fact that the SVEN Collective was bored with the conference call and decided to break into push-ups.
A few good moments and entertaining in general, but a bit stale. Not the best (by far), but not really the worst either....
(by the way, the push-ups scene was just OK...just wanted to correct Joel on the Collected/Collective thing!) :)

Oh, crap. I meant to say "collective." That's what late night typing gets you. Fixed it.

did anybody else notice that we finally found out what Barney was doing for work? At least somehow.
However, I kinda liked this episode. It really had some very great moments (like the "Fire Marshall" worde play ;)) or the discussion at the beginning:
Barney: "This is the last moment of Marshall and me in competition for the title of Ted's best friend."
Ted: "Marshall is my best friend."
Barney: "Exactly - it's a tie!"
And it was good to see something about Ted's architectual work, we didn't see that in a while. Also funny to see Bilson again. And the SVEN group was really weird.
Anyone else missing Robin on Metro News One?

By far the best episode of the season. I feel that this episode is the first one of the fourth season that compares with the first three seasons.
Also, like Joel said, loved when Barney checked out Robin's ass, although I percieved it as a move every guy who's trails a group would do when he sees a hot girl.
