First of all, is that even the right phrasing? Is DVR also a verb? Is TiVo? Probably not. Maybe it should be "shows I always record but never watch" instead.Anyway, Entertainment Weekly's PopWatch blog has a post about shows that we have sitting on our DVRs every single week but we never end up watching. I've been thinking about this and I don't really think there are any shows that I currently record but never watch. Every show I want to see I either watch live or watch later. There's nothing on right now that I take the time to record but don't watch. But there were shows in the past where I did this, including Traveler (I finally deleted the last several episodes, knowing I'd never get to them - I just read online what happened in the end) and Angel. The only current show I used to record is The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The first couple of episodes had me but then I lost interest. Now I don't even bother recording it because I know it's just a waste of time (I know, I know, it's a good show, blah, blah).
You must have shows that are still sitting on your DVR, right?

Trying not to insult you because you don't watch T:TSCC here is what I haven't watched yet and maybe never will ;)
- Prison Break (got to episode four, then got bored)
- Crash (loved the movie, did switch of series after 5 minutes in)
- My Own Worst Enemy (did not see one single minute, waiting for it to be cancelled ;) )
- True Blood (saw the pilot, hated it. I heard there is lots of nudity and Lizzy Caplan joined the show. So there are two reasons not to delete it yet)
- Brothers and Sisters (have not seen ANY episode, have three seasons to catch up. I want to, but I don't have time)

This is why I still like recording via the good ol' VCR. I limit myself to one tape which means I have six hours of things I can record a week. If I want to use the tape for next week then I have to watch whatever I record before a new week begins.
Impractical? Probably. But I'm not severely backlogged with any one show.

I'm with Ryan, I use a VCR. It works fine for me. It helps that there is very little on these days that I care to see enough to record it.

There are only 2 shows that I DVR'd and stop watching:
1-Til Death Ever since the neighbors left and Kenny is a regular, I cannot watch that show anymore. Grant it, Kenny is funny, but cannot get use to him in every episode.
2-Kitchen Nightmares I stopped watching just b/c it wasnt on for awhile and then they would have 2 shows back to back. It's not a continuation series, so Ive just given up.

soooo backlogged here... off the top of my head i have 4 ER's, 4 sarah connors, 3 pushing daisies, 3 earls, a couple Houses and Bones, all of my own worst enemy since the pilot, same goes for sanctuary... and I know there's more - no partridge families in a pear tree though!
Got backed up mainly cause my wife is going to school on monday and wednesday nights... we try and watch true blood, dexter, chuck, fringe, the office and 30 rock asap, just caught up on 3 heroes' last night.
constantly fighting to make room on the DVR - the only bad thing about HD programs... take up a ton of room!
As for verb usage, it's TIVO in our house.

You should get caught up on My Own Worst Enemy. It improves greatly after the pilot, and I'm hooked now. Yes, it will almost certainly be cancelled, but I guess I'm one of those people that doesn't tear their hair out if because the plot is unresolved. I figure, might as well enjoy some quality television while it lasts.

I used to do that with Sarah Connor Chronicles, but now that I hooked my computer up to my TV and can Hulu shows, I just watch them their in one sitting instead.
It was great watching all of season 3 of Prison Break at once. There's no real commercial breaks, and I can just burn through everything quickly and save my DVR space for movies on showtime/cinemax/hbo/stars that I want to see.

Pysch, Monk and Bones. All great shows, but in the limited time I have to watch TV, they always seem to get picked last.

Sitting backlogged on the DVR are this whole season of Smallville (though I don't know why I don't just delete them), Sanctuary, Stargate Atlantis (~7 eps), the last 2 of The Riches, Numb3rs (of which I just watched the season premiere this last weekend), plus a bunch of History Channel and Discovery Channel shows. I did actually remove Cashmere Mafia (Lipstick Jungle? Whichever one didn't get canceled) from my favorites and delete all the episodes I hadn't watched.

Fringe. I've got all the episodes on my DVR and haven't viewed one yet. Even the Pilot.
For some reason I'm more inclined to watch my recording of The Soup and The Suite Life on Deck then watch Fringe...I've just heard such mixed reviews about it.

Or just watch X-Files and Bones and cut out the middleman.
Seriously, I found the writing in The Suite Life on Deck to be more plausible and less clumsy than Fringe. Including the hotel manager now being the cruise ship captain.

The whole season of Raising the Bar (I'll probably delete it soon to save space), umpteen episodes of SVU and CI, several episodes of Dirty, Sexy Money and Season 2 of Pushing Daisies so far, 5 episodes of Chuck, all of Crusoe, CSI, Eli Stone, couple episodes of Sanctuary...
Yea, I watch way too much TV. Now I'm depressed at all that wasted time! Thanks, TV Squad!! ;)

I have the last 6 episodes of hero's! I loved the show in it's first season but hated the 2ed so having a hard time finding the time to watch them now. Maybe during re-run season I'll watch them!
I have 3 of What not to wear when I want light entertainment since it's easy to turn that off in the middle of it
And woah! I have not one but TWO gossip girls! That's almost like Christmas!
and the whole season so far of Raising the bar, will probably just delete those if I need room. I love love dvr!

I too have a bunch of T:TSCC sitting on my DVR (all of Season 2, in fact).
Until about a week ago, I had the entire series of Swingtown, but finally got to that and was pleasantly surprised.
Also....and I know to some this is blasphemy - but House this season has been resting in the DVR memory.

I used to record Heroes last season, hoping it would get better after Kristen Bell, but after a few samplings, I gave up.
The same goes for Prison Break, I watched every episode in the first two seasons, but totally lost interest last season. After all the bad press with the beheading debacle, I delete it.
I still have Fringe and Grey's sitting in DVR, probably gonna sample some episodes before deciding.
Sometimes I got totally hooked on shows because I DVR the entire season (like Sarah Connor and Mad Men) so I find hidden gems when I got the time to watch them straight through in one sitting.

I'm glad that I just download everything that I watch. No having to delete to make room for more. There are a few things that I have that I haven't watched yet do to playing all the new games that have came out plus all the other stuff on tv. So far theres:
Crash, the second seasons of the Tudors & Dexter, Criss Angel's Mindfreak (all seasons), all seasons of Ghost Whisperer/The Unit/Sliders/Spooks/Mortal Kombat/Mad Men/Shark, & a few others. Why does sleep & work have to be necessary??

Don't shoot me...but the two I have whole seasons of recorded that I haven't been able to watch yet are Damages and Mad Men.
Its not that they are low priorities, its just that shows that I'm already a few eps into obviously take watching precedence over shows I haven't started yet.

I tivoed DL Hughley's new show, but I couldn't get through the last episode. I tried for days. Hopefully I'll stop tivoing that one. I do tivo bad shows, because I started watching and just keep up with them; Dirty Sexy Money, Raising the Bar. If I didn't have tivo I'd be rid of these shows!
