(S07E11) "Then why do I still feel ashamed about this?" - Corinne
Despite everything she knows about Vic, Corinne still can't help but feel remorse for working with Dutch and Claudette. It's amazing if you think about it - the hold that he has over her even as she recognizes who he really is. It's this bizarre mixture of love, hate, fear, and respect all at the same time. That being said, it only makes sense that Corinne is the one to turn. Only someone with an intimate knowledge of Vic could arrive at the conclusion that no one else could. The rest of the world may know who Vic Mackey really is, but only Corinne knows who he pretends to be.
Ronnie put it best though - "the wheels are coming off the whole damn thing." Vic is double-crossing Beltran, the One Niners, Olivia, and Pezuela all at the same time. It's quite the juggling act and despite my inclination to feel like even Vic Mackey is smarter than that, I can't say that I'm surprised. With the streak he's had, in his mind he's invincible. Don't forget that he did refer to himself as "an action hero."
Even Superman has a weakness though and Vic's appears to be his ex-wife. He would never suspect her. Had everything worked out, Vic would have been nabbed immediately on aiding and abetting, but he sent Ronnie to drop off the money instead. That's really depressing to me. Ronnie is a dead man walking and he has no idea. Unless Vic comes though on his promise to get them both jobs and some sort of protection with Olivia and I.C.E.
Regarding how Vic is dealing with Olivia, I'm not 100% sure he's going about it the right way by spoon-feeding her info to make the cartel bust he's shooting for seem like a much bigger get. He's manipulating her awfully well and I love how he practically ordered her to let him take on Ronnie, and then he gave her the blackmail file from Pezuela to soften the blow. She's foolish if she can't see the real Vic through that little exchange. Again though, he's always gotten what he wants and Vic has no reason to assume this time will be any different.
One of my favorite parts about this episode was how it prominently featured Julien. We haven't seen much from him this season. Despite the fact that he's always aspired to be than just another street uniform, you have to agree that he's at his best in that role. Think about his time with The Strike Team. He was anonymous. Back in blues and he's making an impact in a neighborhood he's familiar with and with people he knows.
As for Shane, things are getting messy for him and Mara too. Gone are the quaint family moments in empty houses as their lack of funds has brought about a newfound recklessness. While it was smart to play along with Claudette to distract the cops, it was still only a temporary fix and they didn't make very good use of their time. Shane's attempt to rob that stash house was a clusterf*ck and robbing from Mara's old job probably wasn't the best idea either. Those immigrant janitors may not speak English, but they sure can pick a face out of a line-up.
More thoughts on "Petty Cash" --
- I loved when Vic sarcastically called Aceveda "Dave."
- Getting to see everyone's favorite wheelchair snitch Van Bro one final time was a bonus.
- Shane called that hobo who stole his gun "Pigpen." Hilarious.
- Anyone else notice that the return address on Shane's "letter" to Claudette was his go-to alias? Cletus Van Damme strikes again!
- Dutch mentioned that with Vic gone, Danny was now ready to come back. Maybe I missed it, but did we ever find out where exactly she went? I assume to a relative's home maybe?
There's two episodes left and let's be honest - this isn't looking good for Vic. What happens when either the One Niners or Beltran figure out that Vic skimmed $100K from the drug money? Or what if Ronnie finds out that Vic is being watched and figures out he's done for and makes a run south? What if the next letter Shane sends out is for real? What if Olivia can't get Vic and Ronnie jobs because Pezuela finally decides to talk? I could keep going, but I won't. The series' penultimate episode "Possible Kill Screen" airs next week. Predictions?

I always look forward to coming here after the episodes to read your posts because your reviews are so thorough and honestly, with the mess Vic has going on, playing all of these different people in typical Vic Mackey fashion, you always keep it straight and help me to keep it straight too. Thank you, Jonathan.
This episode was definitely setting up the last two of the series and my stomach is already in knots for next week. I loved seeing Van Bro. I know we probably will not get any more cameos from past season characters like that in the remaining episodes but his was very much appreciated.
One question... I might have missed it but any word on Danny yet?

Now don't get me wrong, I can't ever imagine a show as good as this one, but I keep hearing how this season is going to blow the viewers' minds. And to be honest, less has happened in this season than maybe every other one before #7. I know these episodes are all building up to the finale (and by the looks of it, next week), but was anyone else kind of aggravated when this last episode ended? Either way, I still love this show.
Also, the show is making a point of having the viewers wonder where Danny is and Claudette obviously avoided Ronnie's question about where she is. There has to be a bigger reason of her absence than wanting to be away from Vic. The one thing they aren't explaining though is why Vic suddenly doesn't care.
Finally, I still feel Vic is getting played by Olivia. I have a sneaking suspicion Beltran is actually a fed...

And what happened to the serial killer Dutch was investigating?!?!? This show NEVER leaves a story untold and I feel something has to happen there. That mother was far too weird/suspicious to let Dutch just forget about it altogether.

I completely forgot about that serial killer. What DID happen to him? There are a lot of things that have to be addressed in the last two episodes.

I think Vic did care about Dani and the ugly shared-custody thing, but since the s**t REALLY hit the fan soon after with Shane trying actively to murder them, etc. My first prediction until the middle of the season was that Cassidy's unhealthy streak would get worse and worse. Then something really bad would happen to Corrine (or Cassidy, or Matthew, or...I wanna say Megan?the youngest kid) and Cassidy would snap. Vic would somehow manage to extricate himself from the "Shane Shitstorm", and everything else threatening his life and career, be thinking, "Thank God that's over, now I can go apologize and be a good father with--" BLAM! Cassidy shoots him and the last shot would be her and Corrine looking down at him the way they did with the dying Terry Crowly POV at the end of the pilot.
But Cassidy has shaped up well, especially in tonight's episode (I really thought things were going to get way,way worse for her) proud of her good grades, hugging Vic, getting the 20 bucks (the look on Corrine's face when she saw this didn't leave us with a very good feeling, though)so I might be ruling her out. However, I have a feeling it's still going to be a woman in Vic's life --who he trusts and wouldn't dream they were capable of hurting him or killing him--that got so pissed at him for the way he threatened them or their kids that she decides he needs to die --or they feel so backed into a corner that the act is partially self-defense.
I'm worried Claudette isn't going to make it (every time this season they've showed the upstairs railing, I wonder if Claudette or someone else is going over the railing).I've got a feeling of dread, and I *really* hope it doesn't happen after she says something that hurts Dutch so much he just avoids her, and she dies when they are on bad terms.
Tonight was great, intense, and I didn't figure out the whole thing w/the money and letter was a ruse on Cletus--oops, I mean Shane's, part till the last couple scenes with them. I have other comments but will sleep on them ...and I started to feel sympathy for Shane and Mara 'not a friend left in this world but you' during the final scene, until I remembered that Shane chose to MURDER the most great, strong, loyal friend he had, then had the nerve to think Vic and Ronnie would eventually 'see it his way' and act all hurt when they didn't exactly agree with them. As for Mara ...wow, she's always so warm and pleasant and friendly towards everyone, I wonder why the only thing close to a female friend she had was Corrine when they got together for 'playdates'? Also, there was maybe one playdate in total that didn't end with her saying something cryptic and threatening to Corrine with that icy stare on her face. Of course, now neither of them is even pretending to be friends, since Corrine just walked into a buzzsaw when she opened the door to Mara in the last act of "Parracide".
They *were* sort of sweet 'playing house' in that mansion, but I doubt either of them will ever in their lives be even close to happiness again (and either or both of their lives could be ending shortly, for all we know). More thoughts after I sleep on it, but I'm so obsessed with this show that as I type this, the sun is about to rise, and I still sit here avidly reading every review I can and typing this up. Not the first time this show has practically given me insomnia!
I can't wait till the next two episodes (AAAAAAGHHHH! A WHOLE WEEK!), but I am going to pretty damned sad when the series is over. Well, I doubt I'm the only fan with mixed feelings like that.
Peace out...
-RAGA (if you watch the 4th season even have as many times as I have, you'll know what that stands for)

I second Kate in thanking you for your reviews. I love to watch the show, then read your review which helps me keep all the stories straight.
The ironic thing is that Vic is going to be absolutely devastated when he finds that Corrine 'betrayed' him. He thinks nothing of all of the betrayals he has done to her.

First of all, I think the Shield rocks and thanks for the reviews. Did anyone else think it was kind of funny that the One-Niners had to be told to look out the window at the fire power Vic brought with him? Okay, that's nit-picky...Second, I think Vic and Ronnie will wind up getting off, once again, while being protected by I.C.E. Either that or Ronnie will commit suicide and Vic will be gunned down by either Claudette or Corrine! Hard to guess which way it will go.

Unfortunately, there are way too many issues to be adequately wrapped up in two hours (will the finale be a long ep?)...
I was hoping that after the fourth episode of the season they would stop introducing a whole lot of new stuff and focus on the key issues, that hasn't really happened.
Last night, although good - was kind of a waste because nothing really wrapped.
The Dutch/kid/mother triangle, Danni, Claudette's illness, Shane's situation, resolution with Ronnie, all Vic's situations... So much to be resolved, I fear dissatisfaction looming... Unless there's a "Resevoir Dogs" style simultaneous killing.
My theories...
Ronnie - suicide
Vic - shot by Corrine
Danni - not resolved
Claudette - dramatic on-the-job Lupus death (is there such a thing)
Dutch - In shock/Grief over Claudette, is killed by the serial killers mother (who turns out to the real killer)
Unfortunately, all the required carnage/resolutions won't give us enough time to mourn any of them...

I hate to admit that I fell asleep about halfway through the episode (lack of sleep -- not the quality of the show!).
I'm looking forward to watching the second half and catching the last two episodes!
Vic's "action hero" line was classic!

I'm suprised so many people are predicting Claudette dying on the job. I definitely don't see that happening.
I don't see Ronnie committing suicide, or Corrine or Claudette gunning down Vic.
Corrine feels ashamed she's working with the police, no way she's going to shoot Vic. Claudette isn't a rogue or dirty cop so there's no way she'd shoot him either.
One thing I liked was the Julian story line in this episode.
Another person that's been M.I.A besides Danny is Tina...wonder what happened to her.

I should amend my statement about Claudette, as I didn't get a chance to see the previews for the next episode. After seeing the preview, it's entirely possible that they may kill of Claudette.
I hope they don't though, that would be unacceptable in my opinion.

I have to agree with the commenter that things the kids Mom was the real killer. I think she is the real killer, but I don't think she will kill Dutch.

Oh Claudette 's going to die ,no doubt about it, we have heard more about her illness this season then ever before and in each show it turns up more and more last night the pills were in the station..oh yeah shes going down...bet it prevents her from finally cathing vic...vic going to jail is way to easy... so something is going to happen..what ever it is ,how about ronnie this year he is way more verbal and now we see him as an active part of all that went on...Shane is going to die ..he has tragic hero thing going on since the burning of the money by Lem... And again noooo Arminians???? You do not have guys that cut off feet and the go out like thieves in the night ..anyone else wonder? I think Billings is going to play a role or do something big that saves Ronnie or Vic .... Any takers Vic is the one that ends up on the goat farm in mexico?

So intense! I can't see how anyone would be disappointed with this season. I'm absolutely loving this season in general.
I do have to agree that they're not resolving many issues, but that makes sense with the finale right around the corner. Instead they're building the tension on each story line, except Danny (where'd she go?) and Dutch's potential serial killer (the mother is definitely not the killer; that would be an awful plot resolution).
They've also made two uncharacteristic mistakes in my mind. Vic pointing his gun at Shane/Mara when a squad car is pulling into the parking lot and Shane handing the real estate janitor his son to hold).
As for predictions, I'm all over the place.
- It would be fitting/bittersweet to have Claudette die due to not taking care of her illness and focusing on Vic instead.
- Corinne doesn't have it in her to kill the father of her children.
- Cassidy hasn't fully turned the page (maybe she cheated on her test?) that quickly and may pose a problem for Vic before everything ends.
- Mara absolutely cannot come out of this without being punished for her hand in manipulating so many people.
Can't wait to see how things end.
PS. So few comments? Where IS everyone that watched last night?

To be honest I'm not fond of this season. During the first seasons the Strike Team were active and fun, now they are being hunted from all directions.
I love Vic and I think he's a good person. Wish I had him cleaning up the streets near my place.
I hope the show ends in something like this:
Vic finds out that the African Queen is planning on arresting him; sets her up and kill her and that douchebag Dutch.
Then Mara gets killed in a robbery and Shane regrets all the shit he's done and become Vic's friend again. But Vic asks Shane to prove his loyalty by killing Julian and he does.
Ronnie gets tired of playing bad and gets a chance to become the new Barn captain.
Vic goes after Beltran and arrest him, earning him a spot at ICE and getting a chance to assembly a FEDERAL STRIKE TEAM with his old buddy Clark, Ashton that cop that helped Vic last season, and Tavon Garris. OOH and also Smithy as their errand-boy !!!!! It would be awesome.

I would be mortified if almost any of your predictions/wishes come true. The plausibility of any of that happening seems incredibly low.

There's no way Vic has people like Claudette, Dutch and Julian killed. He has made mistakes, but he would run to Mexico before killing innocent cops no matter how deep they are in trying to catch him. I think Corrinne is realizing she can't put Vic behind bars and either her or Cassidy alerts Vic that Claudette and Dutch are on to him. And I truly believe Olivia and Beltran are working together to take down someone, most likely Vic. Instead of seeing relief when Vic gave Olivia her blackmail file it seemed like she felt guilty. She looked almost exactly like how Corinne looked when Vic hugged Cassidy and rewarded her with $20: guilty for taking down a man who essentially is a troubled hero. The one constant theme for Vic has been about protecting the "family" (the strike team and his own family), and this will either lead to his downfall or save his life/career.

He'd never do that? Are you kidding? I think you need to go back and take a gander at Season 1, Episode 1, somewhere in ohhhhh, I don't know, the last minute.
I don't know who's going to be alive or dead after the next two weeks, but this is it. It's over. It's going down, and it's going down hard like no other TV show ever has. This was seriously the best show on TV.
