(S07E15) After a night off so we could all take in the results of the big election, it was time to head back to the ballroom and knock six teams down to five. Tom opened the show by calling Monday the wildest night yet, noting that the gap between top and bottom has never been so great. That disparity is, of course, the result of the ridiculous team judging. Would it lead to another shocking elimination? The results, as well as a look at musical guest Lionel Richie, two pro performances, the return of Dance Center, and stars of dance with Dave Scott (pictured), is after the jump.

Kicking things off with the performances, it was a very good night. Lionel Richie made his return to the ballroom with his new single, "Good Morning." He was joined by Alec & Edyta. I suppose it's tough when you have such great hits in the bag, but the new song didn't do much for me. On the plus side though, Alec & Edyta got much more camera time than we often see with the musical guests. They took advantage, delivering a great performance. Lionel returned later with his hit, "Dancing On The Ceiling." Cheryl, Kym, Maks, and Tony handled the dancing duties for that one. It was great to hear that song, because it is a classic. The pros were great too. Aside from Tony & Kym's big lift going a bit off-kilter, it was a very fun number.
The dancing kids had the week off so we were treated to a Macy's Stars Of Dance performance from Dave Scott. They might have gone a little overboard with the fog machine, but other than that, it was outstanding. Dave is a big, commanding guy and he did well taking center stage. He even managed to work in a little sword swallowing and magic. Very unique, very entertaining, and one of my favorite Stars Of Dance performances.
Kenny Mayne was back with Dance Center and he brought along Jerry Rice for the occasion. They were once again joined by Len in the booth. If you've seen that bit before, you know just how it played. It's a little crazy, and on occasion very funny. The secret to the success is that it's an every so often addition. Some of the highlights from the analysis: Warren is fat, with an f and a ph. Susan is teeny tiny, doesn't even have a shoe or dress size. Brooke Burke? She's fertile. Cody looks about 12 and acts like he's 5. My favorite was Jerry's reaction to seeing Brooke's hyper extended legs. She might be from Mars.
And that brings us to the results. The nuttiness with the group routine made it a pretty easy week for team paso doble. As expected, they were the first three couples that were safe. The order was Maurice & Cheryl, Brooke & Derek, and Warren & Kym. With team cha cha left in jeopardy, Tom and Samantha revealed that Lance & Lacey were safe before getting to the big reveal. Week seven was the end of the line for Susan & Tony.
Susan said that she has had the most incredible experience on the show before going on to thank the audience, her fans, and most importantly, Tony. It was a good run for her, but it was the best decision for the competition. With just five couples left, business should pick up next week. You have to think that the pressure is on Maurice & Cheryl. And what happens with the Cody/Julianne/Edyta partnership should be very interesting to watch. I'll see you all next week, and we'll do it all again.

It was great to see Susan gone and maybe now they can get down to dancing. I think I'm pulling for Maurice & Cheryl. I watched Maurice all the years in his olympics and he is really a cool professional person. Cheryl danced with Emmitt Smith and they won it!

Sorry Susan, I was hoping that you'd pull it off but I see that you are really just too stiff and quite the "Diva", as you showed on "Stars". I'd hoped that you were different than "Erika Kane" in real life but it appears you're not. I've watched "AMC" since it began, love you and your character (congrats on the Emmy) but you need to loosen up and lose the "pose". I do hope that your real persona is not that phoney.

I don't think Susan knows where Erika ends and Susan starts. She really is a soap opera character in real life!
What was up with the sound problems during Dancing on the Ceiling? It was very distracting. At least I had Maks to keep my attention!
I really don't see Cody lasting much past next week if Julianne doesn't come back. I like Edyta, but it's just too late in the season for them to be effective together. I also don't think Maurice will last much longer. He's good in the Latin dances, but he can't do Ballroom (and he even said that himself). If Len would get off Lance & Lacey's back they might have a chance to win. Then again, I'm not sure anyone can beat Brooke at this point!

For the first time this year. I didn't get to see who got voted off, because the results show went over, and my dvr switched over to Life. How hard is to get a show to 30 minutes. They went over almost every week last year, but this is the first time this year.

I noticed that the DVR went to 9:02 last night. On Monday nights the show goes until about 9:31 or 9:32, they have consistently gone over the hour and a half or half hour. There might be something going on with your DVR. I try to allow the extra couple minutes for these shows, especially if we are getting results.
I still go back a couple years back when the DVR stopped a few minutes before we found out that Jordin Sparks was the winner. From now on whenever there are results like this, I add at at least 5 minutes or so. Just to play it safe.

If you use the button on your remote that shows you what show is on and the time it runs for at the bottom of the tv screen then it will show you that this was on for 32 minutes.

Susan needed to go. I can't wait to see what happens next week. To me Maurice might be good enough to win. We'll see what happens. Is anybody going to the tour?

I want Brooke and Derek gone--not because I don'[t like Brooke or don't think the couple is talented but Derek is the biggest douche on this show. He is a starf@#$er of the slimiest nature.

I like Brooke, but cannot pull for her because Derek has turned into such a "dufus". I can barely stand to watch him anymore, and that is sad because he is such a great dancer, and a fantastic choreographer. Each week I hope he will change back to the original Derek, that I loved, but he just gets goofier!! It seems that Derek had tuned into the "fool", since he has been with Shannon, who was a big baby, and I did not like anyway!

This is the most disappointing season of this show...it seems to me egos are getting in the way of actually having fun...i did not care for the silliness that Cloris brought to the show, Susan is phony, and the professionals are not in sync, maybe we need changes for this show to continue to be successful.

I totally agree with the comments regarding Derek! He's a great dancer and choreographer but he's become such a jerk with all his posing and mugging. Tell him to get a little class!
But the more important thing to me is Samantha Harris' weight loss....she's always been such a gorgeous woman, beautiful figure and hair but this season she looks scrawny, boney and way too thin. She's gone a bit overboard with her diet and exercise apparently and it has taken its toll. Also, she should go back to wearing her hair long and loose instead of the severe styles she's been showing this season which only add to her terrible anorexic look.
