Dancing With The Stars: Week 7 results

Dave Scott - Dancing With The Stars
(S07E15) After a night off so we could all take in the results of the big election, it was time to head back to the ballroom and knock six teams down to five. Tom opened the show by calling Monday the wildest night yet, noting that the gap between top and bottom has never been so great. That disparity is, of course, the result of the ridiculous team judging. Would it lead to another shocking elimination? The results, as well as a look at musical guest Lionel Richie, two pro performances, the return of Dance Center, and stars of dance with Dave Scott (pictured), is after the jump.

Kicking things off with the performances, it was a very good night. Lionel Richie made his return to the ballroom with his new single, "Good Morning." He was joined by Alec & Edyta. I suppose it's tough when you have such great hits in the bag, but the new song didn't do much for me. On the plus side though, Alec & Edyta got much more camera time than we often see with the musical guests. They took advantage, delivering a great performance. Lionel returned later with his hit, "Dancing On The Ceiling." Cheryl, Kym, Maks, and Tony handled the dancing duties for that one. It was great to hear that song, because it is a classic. The pros were great too. Aside from Tony & Kym's big lift going a bit off-kilter, it was a very fun number.

The dancing kids had the week off so we were treated to a Macy's Stars Of Dance performance from Dave Scott. They might have gone a little overboard with the fog machine, but other than that, it was outstanding. Dave is a big, commanding guy and he did well taking center stage. He even managed to work in a little sword swallowing and magic. Very unique, very entertaining, and one of my favorite Stars Of Dance performances.

Kenny Mayne was back with Dance Center and he brought along Jerry Rice for the occasion. They were once again joined by Len in the booth. If you've seen that bit before, you know just how it played. It's a little crazy, and on occasion very funny. The secret to the success is that it's an every so often addition. Some of the highlights from the analysis: Warren is fat, with an f and a ph. Susan is teeny tiny, doesn't even have a shoe or dress size. Brooke Burke? She's fertile. Cody looks about 12 and acts like he's 5. My favorite was Jerry's reaction to seeing Brooke's hyper extended legs. She might be from Mars.

And that brings us to the results. The nuttiness with the group routine made it a pretty easy week for team paso doble. As expected, they were the first three couples that were safe. The order was Maurice & Cheryl, Brooke & Derek, and Warren & Kym. With team cha cha left in jeopardy, Tom and Samantha revealed that Lance & Lacey were safe before getting to the big reveal. Week seven was the end of the line for Susan & Tony.

Susan said that she has had the most incredible experience on the show before going on to thank the audience, her fans, and most importantly, Tony. It was a good run for her, but it was the best decision for the competition. With just five couples left, business should pick up next week. You have to think that the pressure is on Maurice & Cheryl. And what happens with the Cody/Julianne/Edyta partnership should be very interesting to watch. I'll see you all next week, and we'll do it all again.
