(S05E06) "When the time comes, an alibi would be nice." - Gaby
Sweeps is a time for closure, new twists, guest stars, and OMG!/WTF? moments. This week's episode of Desperate Housewives, which is the first November Sweeps installment of the series this season, definitely offered us new twists and guest stars thanks to the arrival of Gail O'Grady, Frances Conroy and Lily Tomlin. All three actresses will appear in a few episodes of the series and, as we saw in "There's Always a Woman," will be involved in some important way in the storylines.
In the past seasons, the Scavo twins were not featured much because of the fact the Kinsman twins were not such great actors (and I'm pretty sure they were a handful on the set). Therefore, most storylines involving one of the Scavo kids featured Parked. However, since the time jump occurred, the Carver twins, who play the teenage version of Porter and Parker, are getting a lot of screen time. They have thrown poker parties at the pizzeria, one of them "bonded" with Lynette on the Net and now Porter is getting involved in a The Graduate-type storyline with Anne, played by O'Grady.
Porter's antics will have bad consequences and not only for him. Lynette thinks Tom is having an affair and she is ready to throw him out on the curb. I wonder how Tom will prove to her that he's not cheating so that she really believes him this time as Porter seems to be of the sneaky kind. I don't think Lynette will be ready to listen to Tom's plea of innocence. To be a believer, Lynette will need to walk in on Anne and Porter sleeping together. Lynette and Tom will eventually need couples therapy because they still have trust issues and it seems it won't be going away any time soon. And what about Anne's family? I'm not sure Kirby and Porter will continue hanging together when the truth comes out.
Are Carlos and Gaby finally getting part of a mystery or, at least, getting a good storyline? When Gaby and Virginia talked about the trip to Europe, it started to smell fishy. My suspicions were confirmed when Mary Alice said the word "predators" while Virgina was on screen in the closing narration. The woman wants Carlos and she knows she must keep his family close to have access to him and his magical hands. It's a given that she'll want to get rid of Gaby and the kids eventually... that's when things will turn really ugly to our viewing pleasure. And when that time comes, Gaby will go back to the country club and ask the other masseur for her alibi.
Lily Tomlin is probably the one of the three guest actresses who'll get the less screen time since she is a means to an end (aka dig dirt on Dave). However, what she digs up will be instrumental in showing the Wisteria Lane residents who Dave really is.
Speaking of Dave, we learned a bit more about him this week and I actually believe he was telling the truth for once since he was pretty quick at answering Edie's questions. So if we are to believe him, it does look like the "Mike is the target" theory is accurate. Dave's brother, Steve, was caught with drugs and sent to jail. There, he got killed by another inmate. Court said it was self defense and the inmate served the rest of his sentence and got out. As we were reminded in the episode, Mike served time in jail. Put two and two together and you have another reason why Mike is Dave's target.
Speaking of Mike, that ending totally made it look like Katherine and Mike will get together eventually. Personally, if it means more screen time for Katherine, I'm all for it. You? Let your voice be heard in comments below!

They also brought up Orson's time in jail in the episode...I think the "Mike as a target" might be a red herring for when Dave goes after Mr. Hodge.

I believe Porter's twin is Preston.
In addition to the lady guest stars, it was nice to see DILF Bruce Thomas on hiatus from "Kyle XY" and John Ducey (Carlos' coworker) in a decent support role.

Any of you West Wing fans get as much joy from seeing Mrs. Landingham and Debbie Federer on screen together?
BTW, whatever happened to Parker, the non-twin Scavo son?

He appeared in the episode where Lynette had the online relationship with Porter to find out what secrets he was keeping (he is going to be one screwed up adult, btw)--before that Lynette quizzed Parker about whether his brother was still friends with the kid who was arrested for drugs and Parker showed her Porter's social networking page which is where Lynette got the idea of signing on as a "friend."

Yep, lol , Wisteria Lane is starting to have a damn high jail record (referring to the fact that both Mike and Orson served some time in prison . BTW , not that I think he might be Dave's target , but didn't also Carlos technically spend some time behind bars?)
I totally agree on the fact tact that the more , time Katharine can spend on screen , the better . Besides the character that I certainly like , Dana Delany is really a gorgeous.
Again returning to the final bonding between Mike and Katharine , I don't see them that much well combined together (at least aesthetically) , how she could have been , for example with Orson . But , especially at this moment of the series, that wouldn't fit in the story .
Did I get it wrong or Katharine made a remark about her awful date being a former convict (here we go again) ? Maybe I misunderstood , cause , I mean , it would have been quite a gaffe towards Mike , not a perfect basis starting on to get together.
p.s. After a short break , now , again , I can't stand Susan .

Somehow, I forgot about Carlos' time in jail.
Indeed, us thinking that the target is Mike could be a red herring.

There were three men that went to jail so I dont think its on Mike. Plus didnt someone else want to kill him a season or two ago for a death or something?
I am surprised that no one seems to be tired of the younger man older woman thing yet again on this show. Meh, its been done and Im not that interested in repeating it.
I think Lynette and Tom are in a rut and they need to give them a different story line.
I LOVED Lilly T on the show. That is going to be GOOD!
*PS-I miss the ladies working together on this show. No one ever gets together for cards, talks with wine on the sidewalk, or gossip sessions on the porches anymore. THAT was way more fun!

So let's give it up for Tom for never having to go to jail!
