Wow! Talk about a spooky Halloween memory. This sketch is from Saturday Night Live, just about a year ago. The date, in fact, was Saturday, November 3, 2007. How things have changed. It really proves the adage that a week in politics can seem like a year. Here's a case where a year seems like a decade. Of course, the significance of the clip is that it's Senator Barack Obama's first appearance on Saturday Night Live. And it's not looking as though he's dropping by again before the election, although it's still possible.
If he does actually become president on November 4, 2008, this sketch will likely go into the National Archives or the Smithsonian or -- at the very least -- the Museum of Radio and Television.

Obama better win this thing, or I will lose whatever shred of hope I had left about the future of this country.

Actually, Obama was becoming Clinton's biggest challenger thanks to his second autobiography he released. That's what spurred him to run in the first place. It's funny how a guy, who hasn't accomplished much, has now written TWO autobiographies.
Needless to say, great skit by SNL, even if they are in the Obama-tank.

Basically what you're really saying is "hey, I don't know anything about the issues or the candidates so I'm reduced to spouting talking points!"

His second book was written well before that, because reading it is what made me a supporter of the idea of him running!
Unfortunately, when I read Webb's book he had already taken himself out of consideration for VP. I thought that TIMING was him setting it up nicely, but no luck.

Nobody is "becom[ing] President on November 4", unless W kicks it and Cheney takes over.

"Still, the writers picked out that it would be Obama that would challenge Hillary, while Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, and the others would essentially become supporting players."
In November 2007, it was already guaranteed to be a 2-horse race between Clinton and Obama. The writers weren't being extremely perceptive on that one. Heck, when he gave the address in 2004 at the DNC convention, it was pretty obvious it'd come down to he and Hillary in '08.
