(S08E06) So we the audience get to learn a little more about Davis "Doomsday" Bloome. To begin, to no surprise to anyone, he's a killer. It seems that this version of Doomsday (as opposed to the comics version) is more of a Jekyll and Hyde or the Hulk sort of scenario, where a man becomes an unstoppable monster. Frankly, it's been done and I'm hoping the end of the season leads to a better revelation than learning that Mr. Bloome is a monster, which we know already.Since when is Chloe a licensed therapist? Did she even go to college? If so, isn't her degree in journalism? Obviously, she's not very good at it if one of her clients is a copycat killer. I was a little confused at first about whether the group met in Smallville or Metropolis, but I later realized that it must be taking place in Metropolis because Davis was appearing at all the scenes and his job is based in Metropolis. Obviously, it was easier to meet her group in the city.
I also freely admit I'm not a fan of the Chloe/Jimmy romance. You just know it's doomed. Something will happen. Chloe will die or she'll leave him or become evil or something. I do think it would be cool if the twist at the end of the season was Chloe evolving into a new Brainiac, given her Brainiac-given powers. Do I think it's going to happen? No.
Why are the criminals in Metropolis white, young males that look like hipsters? Isn't crime more multicultural than that? Clark managed to do a super-leap this episode to the top of a building. It's not quite flying, but it's getting there. When the Superman character was originally created, he could only leap an eighth of a mile. Flying came later.
There were a few nods to Superman and other superheroes in other mediums in this episode. There was Detective John Jones, who is a nod to the comic book version of the character. I liked John's line where he called Green Arrow and company his "super friends", but then I'm so nerdy that I own the Challenge of the SuperFriends DVD.
This is the first episode of the new "Lois and Clark" that didn't involve Lois. Other than Tom Welling, nobody appears in every episode anymore. Well, maybe Chloe. Only half of the regular cast were in tonight's episode.
When Chloe was discussing her motivations about helping the meteor-infected assimilate into society (she's becoming the new Professor X!), she forgot to mention that she was one of them.
The twist at the end wasn't really surprising. It seemed more logical that Bloome was the killer than the Shadow Nerd, particularly when they mentioned a creature with "bony eyelids". I knew it's tough for an established show with a limited budget to present a somewhat convincing twist or distracting plot-line, but I do wish they'd try harder with this show. It really has the makings for something great and it seems to keep willingly bog itself in mediocrity.

my problem with smallville is they refuse to grow up i have been a fan but im getting more and more annoyed. the show needs to stop with these stupid 1 episode criminals and evolve into a 24 like tv show or heroes where theres one cosistent threat for at least 5 episodes.
ur right about the race thing in smallville. im black but i dont pay it much attention. its pretty standard among superheroes that there arent many black characters or asian or spanish. so u dont even bother.
its time for smallville to go. i dont think i can go through another season of the same childish stories.

Despite the limited characters, and aside from Dr. Phi... er... Chloe, I liked this episode. Darker than most it really showed the pressures of Clark expanding into a real superhero. How will he leave his friends behind? How does he preserve his anonymity? This episode begins to raise those questions.
I'm also interested in how they show Doomsday... I doubt he'll be a "1 episode character".

I think it would have worked better if Davis/Doomsday had only been responsible for the incident at the Ace O' Clubs. JMO.

very reluctantly i've abandoned "smallville" after all these years.there were always echos of the late great "x-files",especially w/mark snow's scores.always accepted limitations in plot & character development & focused on the bigger picture of clark's angst searching for love & acceptance in a hostile world.but the loss of "smallville's" 3 best actors(glover, rosenbaum, kreuk)& the addition of these non-entities has rendered the series unwatchable for this viewer.there's a point in all television series where writing & character development hits a creative wall:witness thursday nite's 10pm NBC entry "e.r.":should have been dropped 3 seasons ago."x-files"went on 3 seasons too long as well.for this viewer's paranormal/sci-fi fix,i go to FOX ("terminator" & "fringe")& NBC("worst enemy").

Can we have a no bitching about Smallville rule? Of you "don't like it" or "have given up on it" why continue to waste your time with episodes or subsequent reviews? I started watching the show last year, and I picked up the earlier seasons on DVD. I think seasons 6-present are much stronger than 1-5 with the possible exception of 3. The point to Smallville is that he's not superman yet. The no tights, no flights rule was put into place because when you have the combination of the 2, it's game over. It would be cool to see him fly, but so many other characters do it that it has frankly lost all of it's importance. I'm really excited about seeing Doomsday. However, it could be real hit or miss to get him right. I'm also excited about seeing Lois and Clark, espically since Lois is looking way hot this year. I can't place a finger on what Durance changed, but it's working. All in all I'm excited about the season even if it turns out to be the last v

More professional-looking wardrobe and hairstyle. Oh, and she's completed siphoning off all of Chloe's old personality traits that echoed the comic book Lois.

I actually thought with the exception of the Chloe acting as group counselor plot line that this was the best episode so far this season. I also like the Lois and Clark trying to work together scenes when they aren't trying to forcefeed that they are somehow suddenly in love with each other. Also it looks like next week Clark gets a duel identity after that speech John Jones gave him (a character they need more of). Also since I like Chloe Im sort of sad that her only options are to die or become evil while that [insert snarky insult] Jimmy gets to stay.

It's all happening at the Isis foundation, which Lana set up a while ago to help the meteor infected/spy on Lex when she got back from fake-death-land/China. The slow-boil on Davis is really enjoyable. This season has actually been fantastic and if you asked the average viewer (instead of the internet posters that know what's going on behind the scenes), they'd agree there's a breath of fresh air in the show this year. Great SFX, plot and characters and now everyone's got something to do, what with Jimmy looking for that vigilante and hopefully being a real character for once.
I don't know where most people have known Superman from, but Clark from Smallville is probably the best iteration of him I've ever seen. Is it interesting to have a character that is essentially invulnerable facing the latest villain? No. It IS interesting to see a character trying to justify having a life in the face of saving others. If Clark goes out to lunch with Chloe and someone dies that he could have saved, shouldn't he have been there? Also, the meteor "freaks" assembled started to generalise the general population as hating them, which is a common issue in minorities leading to disconnection with society that caused these crimes. What used to be a teen soap-opera facing off against these moral questions is reason enough to watch the show. Add that to what is essentially a fully-fledged Superman show without the tights, but with a solid supporting cast, great weekly stories and exciting serial elements and you've got a great season of a show still going strong.
