Following in the tradition of Knight Rider and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, among others, ABC has given a back-nine order to the Grey's Anatomy spin-off, Private Practice. While I admit I'm not a big fan of this type of show, I did manage to watch an episode or two of Grey's Anatomy and I wonder if the doctors on this show are as insane as the ones on its originator. The networks are showing a lot of faith in their scripted shows given the declined ratings for this season, which could be attributed to the WGA Strike (and damn those people for finding something else to do and sticking to it). Obviously, it takes time for shows to build up an audience again after such an event and the networks know this.
It would be very easy for the networks to inundate us with reality television at this point, which is cheaper to produce. I applaud the networks for recognizing the type of programming that has true longevity.

Now if only they would show a little faith with Pushing Daisies!

Yeah, this is all well and good, but I'm just waiting on Pushing Daisies. Oh please ABC, don't you dare quit on that show.

I'm happy. I liked PP before. But this season, SR tightened the storylines and character development. I'm glad they're giving the show time to improve. After all, it took Friends awhile to hit its stride. I hope this is the start of a growing trend for other shows . . .

I hope ABC pickup Pushing Daisies as well, the show was really a victim of the strike. its on a bubble because lately I haven't seen ABC promote the show at all. they are, however, promoting Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money like crazy. Since the network doesn't own PD, I wonder if they're just letting it go. sigh.

If ABC doesn't own the show, they could care less about it. They renew crap like Private Practice, cxl Boston Legal, and probably won't give Pushing Daisies a renewal for the rest of the season. I always say Stephen McPherson, head of ABC, needs his meds. He makes the wrong choices. Shonda Rhimes is not the greatest writer, Grey's isn't even doing as well anymore. Stroke her ego and renew a crap show like PP, but not Pushing Daisies. HA HA
