(S02E07) "Letting people down is your forte." - Bart to Chuck
Could it be that Chuck Bass has a heart or is he trying to help Vanessa even if his "mission" is over only to prove his father wrong? No matter the answer, I'm happy that Chuck is going against Blair's wishes. It was about time Chuck told Blair that he had done enough chasing around and that if she truly wanted him, it was her turn to do the chasing. Even if at times it served his own agenda, Chuck was way too eager to please a Blair who wasn't ready to say the three words she actually wanted him to say.
Speaking of Blair, it does seems, as I predicted in my review of last week's episode, that she and Serena are in a sort of honeymoon phase. This week, it was as of nothing happened at Yale and the weeks before. According to Chuck, what happens at Yale, stays at Yale, but you have to admit that the two girls seem way too friendly when taking into account what happened in the last episodes. In any case, it was a nice change to see Blair and Serena be kind and civil to one another. I hope it lasts.
Poor Nate got it tough. I wonder if his mother knows what is going on in the Upper East Side. Does she know they lost the house and that Nate has been living there illegally, without furniture and electricity? If she does know, why is she letting him live like that and where is she? If she doesn't know, Nate will have some major explaining to do. I'm glad though that the Humphreys took him in. They are a good family and Nate deserves a break and a chance to be a teen.
Finally, Serena and Eric told their mother exactly how they have been feeling for years. Even if it was difficult to hear, Lily needed to be told that she wasn't a very good mother because she always put her boyfriends/husbands first. Lily seems to be truly committed to making her family work this time around and try to right the wrongs she did in the past. Bart may not be the one we want Lily to be with when the series ends, but you have to admit that he is willing to make his marriage and family work. Now that Lily is on the right path with her kids, how about the same thing happening for Bart? Chuck and Bart need to tell each other exactly how they feel about one another to really have the entire family together. I know, I'm dreaming and it will never happen. Please don't burst my bubble right now.
It was nice to see more of Vanessa even if her storyline wasn't that important. I'm not against the idea of a Chuck/Vanessa pairing at this point in the game. She needs more action in her life and he needs to date a good girl for once. What do you think? Let your voice be heard in comments below!

every monday night I dream of Chuck Bass... sigh...
**** Spoiler!!!************
My predictions:
somebody does die in Nov, and there were so many indications that it would be Bart - ex 1: Bart says "you know what being a family means?" Chuck says "Less $ for me when you die..." Ex 2: Setting up Lilly for having to be a real mother to E and S once Bart dies, and putting her kids first. Ex 3: Bart telling Chuck he has no business sense and is irresponsible - totally setting Chuck up to "take over"
***END SPOILER****

oh and I totally disagree with your assessment that Bart wants to make this family work - he was just in it to impress the Midwesterners and to close the deal. He hasn't been around since he and Lilly got married, so why all of a sudden does he really care about family!... I call BS
And Vanessa annoys me more than ever now.... Why in the world is a 16 year old the head supporter of preserving a landmark BAR... she's 16!!!

I actually liked Vanessa in this episode. She's kind of growing on me. I can see why others don't care for her, but the writers don't really give her much to work with. It's nice to see the life of someone other than the UESiders.
I can't wait to see how Blair reacts to Chuck in the next couple of episodes. Their bedroom scene was very hot.

Nate's mom doesn't know he is living in an evicted house. He said in the episode she thought he was living with Chuck.
