Dear Hugh Laurie,
Hugh (can I call you Hugh?), do you know how the next episode of House is being promoted by FOX? The show that you executive produce and spend hours and days getting just right? Care to give a guess? Okay, I'll let you know. . .porn.
Not like the porn you get online, or porn you find on Cinemax. We're talking about over-the-air, PG-rated network porn. To be more specific, FOX is featuring a promo of the show (seen after the jump) with the first 43 seconds of a girl-on-girl scene starring Thirteen and her 'one-night-stand' that eventually gets sick and becomes the week's Mystery Patient (coming out soon as a board game by Milton-Bradley). I understand that network executives may be catering to the base feelings of the average male viewer, but I'm sure there is an equal, if not stronger, female base that may be a bit disturbed about this preview.
Take a look yourself, Hugh, and let us know if this is the way your show should be promoted. Oh, and the rest of you can tell us as well.

I see the headlines for next week, "House grabs an unprecedented 100% viewership among males in the 12-102 age category"

Well they just been teasing viewers, male and female, with 13's bisexuality for the past two seasons. They were bound (hehe) to show us something related to it eventually. Is this any worse then them getting Carmen Electra for a couple scenes in an episode? Or having that underage girl who had a crush on House be a recurring character? And why are you putting the responsiblity on Hugh Laurie? He may be the face of the series but he's not the creator or a writer. The only regret is that House isn't on HBO or Showtime.

The ratings for House are down a lot, so it's good to see that they will have lesbian sex to bring them back up.

Is this supposed to be praise and excitement cleverly disguised as shock and moral outrage? If so, well done sir, well done.

The only problem I have with girl on girl action on tv is that there is not enough of it on. I've been saving this show to watch on dvd since I've done missed so many but I'll definitely make an exception for this episode.

this is the way each and every episode of each and every show should be promoted.......i am for much more nudity and less stupid gun loving violence in us-shows.

Let's say I want to "continue reading" as the link says...I just want to read whatever else you wrote, and look at the comments...the minute I go to the new page, the video starts playing automatically...if you are so critical about this, shouldn't the reader at least have the option of watching the video or not?
And why would the female viewers be disturbed about this? I would assume that you are disagreeing with the "explicit" nature of the video (which I think is NOTHING compared to everything else that is on TV at that particular hour), then it shouldn't matter what gender the viewers are. If its the lesbian aspect of the video that is bothering you, then that is a whole different argument. It seems that the promo bothered you for some reason, but (at least I) didn't get why..
I love reading TV Squad everyday, and I understand that a certain bias will be present in the postings, but I would at least appreciate a better formed argument, than just saying oh my God porn! I'm sure Mr. Laurie and the people at Fox and the other people in charge of the show have thought this through. House is one of the most decent and entertaining shows on TV (and here is my bias), and it has touched so many sensitive subjects with good appreciation and concern...I just don't see why this promo has caused so much hype.

Will there be women turned off by this preview? Probably. But will they come anywhere close to the number of straight men turned on by it? Not a chance.
