(S13E03) "I know she pushed my sports bra off the ledge!" - Christy about Starr
While the sports bra debacle wasn't the only drama on tonight's episode of The Amazing Race, it played a role one and off throughout the show. And, I'm sure we haven't heard the last of it. while the animosity within the teams seemed to dwindle some this week, the animosity between a few of the teams is amping up. That's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I find racers who constantly bicker with their partners really annoying. But when teams are contentious with other teams, it gives them more of a spirit of competition. Read on for my review!
Bra-troversy
So, Christy thinks that Starr pushed her sports bra off the ledge where she had left it to dry at the Pit Stop. We never saw the big event (or, not so big as the case seems to be). Would Starr do something like that? Yeah, I think so. Nick tried to calm Kelly and Christy, but they weren't buying it. It gave the teams a reason to do better, so I like the bra-troversy. Aja added fuel to the fire by telling Kelly and Christy that Starr wanted them to use the U-Turn on them. Now, I didn't notice that, but I might have missed it on their bumpy rides as I was kind of bumping along with them. Whether she asked them or not, heh. I can see this going on until one of the teams gets eliminated.
Onto Bolivia
Wow, no airport scenes this week? Amazing! They even mentioned two planes, but said nothing about any time difference. I found that kind of odd. But the teams seemed to be all in the same time frame as they hustled around looking for the clues.
READ the clues ... please!
I don't think we've ever had a season so rampant with teams not thoroughly reading the clues. Yes, I know they're under pressure. But there have been twelve other seasons before this and the clue-reading errors each season might add up to what we've seen so far this season. "Travel on foot" doesn't mean "take a taxi." It just doesn't.
The Detour
At least we're getting a bit back into the cultural kind of tasks. I got a kick out of the blonds being all happy with their marching band guys while the frats were sulking and their band marched slower. I'm not a really big fan of Marisa and Brooke, but they played that one just right, didn't they?
Those bikes used in the Bumpy Ride Detour were really rough. And to make them go down cobblestone streets? Yikes! Of course, wearing the feathered hat just added to the whole picture of doofiness. I'm sure that those bikes aren't a big hit these days. It actually looked kind of dangerous.
I noticed it was Starr pushing for them to U-Turn Kelly and Christy at the end of the Detour. Nick didn't want to and I'm glad he convinced her that they shouldn't do it. That's just another reason I bet that Starr did do the bra thing. No one ended up getting U-Turned. So we'll revisit that later in the race.
The Fighting Cholitas
This had to be one of the funniest Roadblocks ever! The teams should have picked up on the word "Cholita" as a female as it ends in an "a." But, no. They saw "who's up for a fight?" And, then most of the guys jumped for it on mixed teams. The fighting was more precise than I thought it would be and was made even harder due to the altitude.
My heart sunk when Mark (or was that Bill?) needed three times and a bout of oxygen. They're my favorite team to watch and I knew they'd already be facing a penalty for taking a taxi when they were supposed to travel on foot. Argh. I'm not sure I could have remembered the exact moves needed and do them well enough to get through the first time. Some teams did great, though. Being out of shape on the race, in addition to reading the clues wrong, can do you in.
The Pit Stop Order
1. Ken and Tina -- Won a trip to Mexico
2. Toni and Dallas
3. Terence and Sarah
4. Marisa and Brooke
5. Aja and Ty
6. Nick and Starr
7. Andrew and Dan8. Mark and Bill Received a thirty-minute penalty for taking the taxi
8. Kelly and Christy
9. Mark and Bill
Although Phil said the last team "may" be eliminated, Mark and Bill were definitely Philiminated. Aw, what a shame. Of all teams to not read a clue thoroughly, I wouldn't have thought they'd be the ones. Sniffle.

Props to Dallas/Toni and Marissa/Brooke for inching towards the top of the pecking order this episode.
And since I'm pro Nick/Starr, I think Kelly/Christy are just paranoid. Like Starr said, why would she do that? What kind of advantage would it give them in the race? AND I saw Starr wanting to U-turn them because Kelly/Christy accused her of something she probably didn't do.
...and if you think about it, if they U-turn'd them Mark and Bill would probably still be in the race. Sigh.

dang it... my favorite team out early.
Not a lot of appealing people to root for this season. I like the football player but his shrew of a wife is terrible. I just really dont like any of the other teams very much.

Aja blatantly lied to Kelly & Christy. She was the one asking Nick and Starr to U-Turn them while they were riding those bikes. I'm not liking many of these teams so far, except maybe Dallas & Toni. We'll see.

Aja did not lie, Starr did ask them to U-turn Kelly and Christy, I re-watched to make sure, since others seemed to have missed this exchange and who it came from.

Great episode last night. I have a feeling the "fued" will be even more dramatic next week. At least I hope so.

Jackie, you need dvr! You need to rewind and listen carefully Starr was the one who pleaded with Aja/Ty to U-turn the divorcees. I wished someone would have U-turned Starr/Nick they are rude and annoying! Starr was the only one who considered using the U-turn. Why U-turn when you already have a lead on some groups, obviously she is just mean.

Ah Rebecca, it's called foresight. If mark and bill had u-turned somebody they probably would have still been in the game. You don't even know if you will be around when the next u-turn comes around, i say use it. Espescially when you are in the bottom third like the siblings.

I'm so bummed that my San Diego Geeks didn't read the clue correctly and lost. I was so wishing it wasn't an elimination night! Total bummer.
