The 4400 co-creator and producer Scott Peters is remaking the 1980's V miniseries for ABC. The article expressly states that the original creator, Kenneth Johnson, will not be involved.I'm somewhat dreading this remake because Peters says he will pretty much revamp the human story to something completely different (although an alien invasion will probably still be involved). The theme of the new version will more be about having blind faith in leadership rather than being an allegory of the Nazi occupation of Germany.
It's entirely possible this new version would work. The current Battlestar Galactica is not very much like its predecessor and represents science fiction at its finest. The original V terrified the crap out of the much younger me. Then the network wussed out with the concept and tried to maximize profits by tacking on a happy-ending sequel miniseries and shortly-lived continuing series.
On the other hand, the revamped Flash Gordon was a pile of suck. Here's hoping V is better.

What happened to the movie based on the second book you have pictured with this post? I thought that was coming to television first. This series sounds nothing like that book.

Unlike Battlestar of the days of yore, this show was actually really intense and angstful even back in the day.
It was gritty and harsh. Yes... there was some overacting and even underacting, but it was the kind of tv show that was painful to watch at times because it told it's story too well.

God I hate this show because it scared me so much back then. I hate it. Just like the Tripod. Just ugly scary stuff. *shiver*

Does anyone really think a show about aliens on one of the original 3 networks is a good idea?
I hope it's only a miniseries with an ending; otherwise I'm going to just be pissed like I was at the cancellation of Invasion. If they didn't support that, why would ABC support this?

I'd rather they made a conclusion to The 4400. V was pretty campy even then... they better have a better budget for special effects and some seriously good writers waiting in the wings, because this sounds like a REALLY bad idea.

Here’s another example how the studios are not giving the original creators their chance to bring back their previous hit series and giving the property to someone else. Besides Kenneth Johnson trying to bring back “V” for the last couple of years, Glen Larson has seen his “Battlestar Galactica” and “Knight Rider” series moved on without him (yes, I know he has some kind of consulting producer and/or executive producer credit in those shows, respectively, but that’s really a courtesy credit in a lot of ways). Additionally, Johnson also last season saw the network destroy his “Bionic Woman” creation. Come on, studios! Give these creators their opportunities to bring back the shows that made them popular in the first place.
