Did you know that Paris Hilton is running for President? I know, I know, you haven't seen any commercials on TV and she hasn't participated in any of the debates and who knows if she even knows what the word incumbent means, but she wants to be the next leader of the free world. And she's asked the best fake President we've ever had for some advice. That's right, Paris has asked Martin Sheen (aka Jed Bartlett) for advice on how to be a fake President if that day should come. At first Sheen seems rather confused at why he's talking to Hilton ("I don't usually come to this kind of party."), but he eventually gives her advice, including how to solve problems in the kitchen ("During my fake Presidency, the kitchen was always my favorite spot to solve the great fake issues of our time), and why it's harder to be a fake President today than it was when his first term started in the late 90s. Sheen is pretty funny: great delivery and he does it all with a mock seriousness. Also look for a cameo at the end by the highest-paid sitcom star on TV right now.
Not sure about Hilton as President though. Hasn't she flipped-flopped on a lot of issues? I mean, she was for sex tapes before she was against them. She also spent time in jail! And let's not forget her shady association with another lawbreaker, Nicole Richie. Though I bet she could help Wall Street by just writing a check.

HOW IS THIS WORTH THE EFFORT TO WRITE ABOUT WHEN THERE'S ONLY BEEN ONE REVIEW FOR ANY WEDNESDAY TV!?!?!?!?!? TV Squad is officially irrelevant as a source for Television reviews, recaps and discussion. Go back 6 months-1 year and this site was the best place on the web for that...now it's utterly useless.
How is the season premiere of SOUTH PARK less important than some low-level porn star's stupid interaction with Martin Sheen? P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C!!!!

Dan, did you read the post I did last week on the evolution of TV Squad? That explains everything.
What's amazing is that you complain about the site going downhill, yet comment on many different posts -- sometimes abusively enough that we have to delete them -- and you also entered our last contest! So it seems like you still *want* to be active, despite the rants you leave here and on our comments link. Color me confused.

The "evolution of TV squad" article said you would be focusing more on fewer shows, but the first Heroes article after that was one of the worst ever. This used to be a wonderful site, but now I'm finding it harder and harder to find anything interesting to read. The whole reason I found this site in the first place was because it had reviewcaps to all but one or two of my favorite shows. Now it has just a couple altogether!
As for me being "abusive", I don't really see that. The only people I insult are Paris Hilton, that blonde from "The View" and people who voted to put this country into the current crisis...all of whom deserve it.
As for the contest, why wouldn't I enter a contest that I have a decent chance of winning (unless it's not random, then based on what you wrote above would lead me to believe that I'd no shot in hell at winning a thing) something that I truly want?
Finally, in the amount of time you spent reading my response, looking up my history and responding to my post, you could have written a reviewcap for South Park's premiere.
Really, this site had so much going for it. Easy commenting system, very nice formatting on the home page, easy to navigate menus, easy to search articles in Google, detailed reviewcaps with fun little polls at the end and even links to interesting articles and video clips. Now, there's more about Paris Hilton and The View than there is about most TV shows. Commenting is way down from before and that's a direct result of the falling quality of this site.

Dan, I did not see any of your comments in the all time tv squad classic "Webster didn't really float in the air with the help of balloons" from this morning so i can only imagine that was one they had to censor you on. This post was like a 10 page article comparing and contrasting massive dynamic to the hanso foundation compared to that garbage.
Joel, I read your exercise in self indulgence, excuse me, I mean the evolution of tv squad and you can color me unimpressed. If tvsquad is so set on changing I really think you (or anyone else) needs to read the post I made on tuesday in the whats on tonight post. Could a weblog site handle a format like that? Have you read any of the sbnation blogs (notably bloodyelbow.com, a mma blog) to have a better idea/vision of what i am talking about??
I havent seen your traffic numbers but I have a hard time believing your new format will succeed (espicially if you were already having problems). In the past people came to tvsquad on a daily basis in order to read the recaps of the episodes and then the "funny, thoughtful commentary" fell right in their laps. Without daily recaps driving people into the website I just dont think there is going to be enough traffic to read the "funny, thoughtful commentary" that you thought was so important to the site (maybe if the commentary was a little more thoughtful and a LOT funnier... cuz at this point its borderline on both).
You specifically mention how this will open up more time for your writers to casually mention other shows, like smallville. In theory thats great, but, if smallville fans dont know its there what good does it do. Do you think fans are going to loyally check back in week after week hoping someone might mention the show they are interested in. Believe it or not smallville fans there really arent that many of you left... if you throw away the smallville diehards and are relying solely on tvsquad diehards (that also happen to like smallville) is there even enough demand to necessitate an article??

oh and while we are bitching about shows that should have been reviewed over funny, thoughtful commentary... nothing for the project runway finale? really?? as far as television goes what shows have a more dedicated, internet saavy audience (other then lost of course)?? If anything should stay I think this is one
How will you guys decide which shows will be reviewed? At this point your selections seem iffy, at best.

Sorry dt3, there was no pooping or farting in this episode, nor was there anything about religion, and Kenny didn't die. There was, however, a graphic rape of Indiana Jones by George Lucas, a racist plotline about the Chinese and some people getting shot in the balls. My point was that the Season Premiere of South Park should have more importance than this stupid article about Paris Hilton. WHO CARES ABOUT PARIS HILTON? Giving her press only encourages her. If I want Celeb gossip, I will go to TMZ or OMG, not TV Squad. TV Squad is about TV and that's why I came here in the first place.
My whole point to these notes is that the "evolution of TV Squad" is more like a Devolution. After all, when you go from the best place on the net for TV reviewcaps and discussion to another mediocre TV news site without anything unique to add to the mix.
I actually LOVED Jason's reviews before the downturn. I really LOVED this site before it went bad. I just wanted to voice my displeasure with the collapse of a formerly great site with the hope that it would motivate you guys to restore its former glory.

Forget it Dan. AOL made a choice here and that's what TV Squad is going to be. A tabloid.
There's no reason to stay here and discuss anything. The posts are just mere blurbs of celeb information now. Nothing more.
Go visit cliqueclack and be happy.

Dan ,
I can see why Joel gets so frustrated dealing with you. I threw in the crack about South Park but other then that we were on the same page. Completely restating your point was unnecessary (and a little annoying).

You know.. in that picture I immediately pictured her in the "I Dream of Jeannie" role.
Yep.. I just called out that casting bit right there. Mark it. She should be the next Jeannie :)

Loves it.
PS I've posted before so I won't rant, but I do think you're fumbling the ball this season. It was my favourite past-time to watch a show and come on here for the discussion. South Park review?
