New York magazine has reported that the Saturday Night Live team is brainstorming some way to involve the real Sarah Palin in one of the upcoming "Weekend Update" episodes. Word is, she might play Tina Fey in a spoof of her American Express commercial. Granted, this will gain Palin some of those much needed cool points with the comedy crowd, but I'm having trouble picturing this actually coming to fruition. It's fun enough trying to picture what the writers would put her through, because they haven't made any attempts to hide how they feel about her.As some of you may remember, Barack Obama made a brief appearance as himself back in November and John McCain even hosted years and years ago. Those went over pretty well, but SNL's previous treatment of their characters wasn't quite as scathing as that of Palin. On the other hand, Monica Lewinsky got a lot of bad jokes on that show and her surprise appearance opposite Darell Hammond's Bill Clinton -- my God, it just hit me that he's still on the show -- was very good. Did I just link Sarah Palin and Monica Lewinsky? Yes. Yes, I did.
Remember that SNL is still doing normal Saturday programming but has added Thursday election-centric episodes after The Office. Check out this article for the schedule break-down.

Actually I believe SNL is on a break this weekend, but regardless I just don't see the Republicans letting Palin on the show. They won't even let her sit in on normal interviews, let alone loose her upon a show that's skewered her week after week. If they're smart, they'll keep her as hidden as possible.
But hey, stranger things have happened. By the way, McCain also was on the show as recently as last season during the primaries, if I recall.

Ahh yeah. SNL is far from the cool kids. In fact they need her to get cool kids cred. The show has been horrible for years. They've come up with one good re-occurring skit. Sarah Palin. Face it, everything that ties to her is ratings gold. Shes the cool kid.
And Tucker, I think the McCain camp had learned from its mistake. No more hiding Sarah or sending her to be sand bagged by liberal "journalists" like Katie. Just look at the last two days shes been unloading on the lord messiah the most merciful Barrack Hussein Obama.

Why do pathetic Republicans always have to use Obama's middle name in every statement like it's a bad word? Maybe because the can't find anything truly negative to say about Obama, and they figure the name will overshadow their lack of talking points. It's like high school all over again.

Katie is a liberal? How do you know this? She's no hard nose journalist either. If she were being interviewed by a real liberal journalist her rep's would've stop the interview at the first sign of trouble....if they would've allowed it at all. It's not hard to guess who you'll be voting for willy as you had to throw Obama's middle name in there to try and add to the Republican fear mongering. As far as the topic on hand it can't hurt for Palin to make an appearance on SNL, people seem to like politicians more if they don't take themselves to seriously.

Come on....did you really just type "Katie is a liberal?" as if she hasn't come right out and identified herself as a Dem? Have you watched her much? Prior to the CBS news gig, she voiced PLENTY of personal opinions on Today. All leaning very left!
I think Sarah Palin should go on the show. And then I hope she goes off script, ad-libs and comes at them with her own scathing comments. But even if she makes fun of herself, it will go over well. I hope she does it. I do think the Tina Fey bits on her are funny though.

If the SNL are REAL comedy writers and not just snide liberal hacks, they should be able to write plenty of good stuff for Palin.
For example, the CSPAN Bailout sketch was funny this weekend because it lampooned both sides (which obviously deserved to be lampooned), and didn't make some sort of ideological political view.

I've got plenty of negative things to say about Obama - this just isn't the forum.
Frankly, Sarah Palin is a real person and is much cooler being herself than the SNL kids could ever be.

Why do republicans hide McCain's middle name like it's a bad word? I follow politics fairly closely and I have no idea what it is. Why should anybodies middle name mean anything at all?

Palin on SNL would not help or hurt her. She puts her foot in her mouth every time she opens it. She has done McCain too much damage. If she really want McCain to win she should quit and go home.

Hey, I never heard of Tina Fey before and can't stand her now. She's not as pretty as Palin in spite of similarities and obviously never heard of having any respect for the candidates or process of our gov't. I don't see Sarah wasting her time in response and I'm not even a Republican and not voting for her, but I do like her a lot. Of course, I'm not about to vote for muslims to take over our country either.

she can clearly see that shes been seen as the ass she is
from the sound of her voice to the mud and shit that she tries to sling...... she knows that shes being made to look like an ass....... she has a lot of nerve talking about obama and that man from the 1960's when her husband was a member of this radical group of people that wanted their state to succeed from the union.... the man thats the head of that group is nuts.... and hates america but i dont see her talking about that...

yeah right. this comes after Palin argues that Tina Fey was not first to do her but that she claims to have dressed as Fey for Halloween before. Uh-huh....she would have already passed around the pictures, and wouldn't that just make her sooooo cool. Funny, seems Fey's political viewpoints would deter Palin from ever wanting to truly associate herself with her, but gosh doesn't the publicity feel good? Guess thats what happens when you're a former journalist trying to put a good spin on being shown as a true fool on national television.

God ole' Annie -- just couldn't resist linking Sarah Palin with Monica Lewinsky.
Very respectful Annie... and sooo very typical of your rants about Republicans (most notably on the Daily Show). TV Squad sucks! Can't you possibly find some commentators that are NOT in the tank for Obama???

Haha, I obviously didn't hesitate to acknowledge the unintended horribleness of that link in my post. There's not really anything to call out here because there's clearly no real link between Palin and Lewinsky. I'm sorry I had to actually comment to clarify.

Sarah Palin *must* appear on SNL spoofing Tina Fey. They should do a 30 ROCK sketch and a Baby Mama sketch, and a "bitch is the new black" segment on Weekend Update.
For SNL, it would be drop-dead *classic* hilarity.
For Palin, it would cool up her image and defuse the SNL barrage.

I would love to see Sara Palin on SNL. It has been so boring for a long time. I think Palin will rock the house just like she did during the debate with Biden. He looked like he didn't know what hit him. All he could do is try to keep his lip from quivering and recite the same old boring stuff he has talked about for years. Like it or not Sara is fresh and fantastic. Keep shakin in your boots peeps, the fight is on. I am, WAS an undecided voter and a Democrat. I am so happy I have a better choice than Barack Hussein Obama (I am sorry I just don't trust him).

So sad Annie... you just don't get it.
Linking the Governor of Alaska with a woman most notably known for giving oral sex in the oval office does not make you clever or witty... nor was the reference fleeting or accidental.
No... it was purposeful and snarky.
You are quite proud of yourself and Annie... that speeks volumes about you.

I was just thinking the other day that it would fun if Sarah Palin guested on SNL. She should do it. Just for fun.
I don't care about Obama's middle name. Regardless of what it is, he's not good for this country. He's got poor judgement, as evidenced by his alliances with people like Ayers and Wright, Rezko. He's been campaigning half of his term in the Senate, wouldn't support the Live Birth Bill that would have protected babies born in botched abortions, and didn't support the surge in Iraq. The only thing we know he's good at is making a great speech about nothing. He's no JFK, he's no Reagan and he's no President I would trust. The truth is that if a white guy were running on the same record and the same skills, he wouldn't even be the nominee. Colin Powell would probably get my vote if he ran, so it's not race that worries me, it's character.
