I read Bill O'Reilly's new book, A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity, over the weekend. The title comes from something a nun called him when he was a kid. Besides finding out how much of a great guy he is (I found this out from O'Reilly, not from friends or associates), I also found out why the series finale of Seinfeld was so bad. It was the liberal media's fault. That's right, the FOX News host says that Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David are so cynical that they "tanked the final episode on purpose." They wanted to go out on such a low note that they made purposely made the last episode bad.
I have a lot of problems with the episode. It wasn't particularly funny, I don't think that even the self-centered foursome would let a guy get carjacked without doing anything, and I hated the fact that they brought back dozens of old characters for the court trial, especially when we had already seen those characters in the clips show that aired right before the finale. It was like a mini-clips show within the episode itself (and the whole trial was silly - doesn't David understand that these four were already punished in almost every episode for nine years?).
Speaking of that clips show, O'Reilly doesn't even know they did one. His suggestion to Seinfeld and David is that they should have done a clips show instead of the finale. The clips show ran immediately before the finale, and was seen by approximately a gazillion people (except O'Reilly, apparently). In fact, to get technical here, Seinfeld did a clips show for their 100th episode too.
Great fact-checking. I wonder if he has the same standards on The Factor?

We conservatives think O'Reilly is as much of a blowhard as you liberals, so calm it down just a bit and get off that high horse you created for yourself, k?

...and yet another "barely-connected-to-TV" story used solely as a means to feed the disgustingly liberal author's need to try and feel superior. This says a lot more about Bob than it does about O'Reilly.

As a conservative, I find it truly disgusting that you would suggest anything other than that everything that comes out of everyone on the right is anything but God breathed fact, whether it is true or not.
Do you not love America?
Why do you want to kill babies?
[Add something here about everyone being against us, some smartass remark and the requisite label of hippy, liberal, elitist, etc]

Please note that this post did not contain one word of "conservative" bashing, just O'Reilly-bashing. So, what high horse?
That's my job. When it comes to conservative TV, nothing beats that "reality" show where a president drummed up a false case for war, lied about an imminent existential threat, and led the nation into international disgrace. Oh, and the loss of tens of thousands of lives.
Now THAT was some good TV. Getting virtually the entire media on board for cross-promotion for the first few seasons was total genius.

So was this post about O'Reilly's book or the Seinfeld finale? Because it seems like it's trying to cover both, but not really doing either.

Ok we can all agree that O'reilly and the Seinfeld finale suck, but seriously Bob, where is your Mad Men review?

Well I voted all these entries with the DOWN arrow, so they are all equally DOWN and therefore equally the same? Hey that didn't work. Maybe now I can vote mine up and then all the others will be voted down where they belong because they are all off target and dumb. And besides I believe that Larry David quit the show around season seven, so it was Seinfeld himself that "tanked" the show. That's all for now I gotta go and watch that one where Kramer gets in a big jam and has to get Jerry to help him clean things up, while George complains about his rotten life and Elaine gets laid by that guy from Family Guy in the wheelchair....

IIRC Larry David came back to help out with the finale, so he is partially responsible for that lame episode.

How about write about tv shows instead of bashing Bill O'Rielly.

You know, I apologize for getting the comments section down this route. Just getting more and more tired of the hatchet job our side keeps getting (of course, even more so now because it is an election year).
Normally I am a big fan of Bob Sassone's writing; it just seemed he was starting to go down that same road others have gone before (i.e. "Let's beat down on the Republicans because they dare to have an opinion different from us")
Anyway, this is not the place for political arguments back and forth; I will refrain from it from here on in and hopefully others (on both sides -- including the writers on this site) will do the same.

whats with all the whiny, angry conservatives?
Given the damage you've done to this county and the middle class over the last 30 years you don't really have anyone to blame about posts like these by yourselves.

I'm a liberal that can't stand O'Rilley... but i still would have preferred reviews of Mad Men, Fringe, Entourage, TDS, or Bones over this.
...and please try and stop being so knee-jerk offended about these posts. I'd say just don't read Sassone's stuff if you're worried about getting some liberal on you, but it really doesn't seem like the post was read before complaints were lodged... "Besides finding out how much of a great guy he is (I found this out from O'Reilly, not from friends or associates)" and "Great fact-checking. I wonder if he has the same standards on The Factor?",
are hardly liberal red meat. If you're offended over that, imagine how we feel about the Sarah Palin pick.
jeez.

I probably should have revealed this earlier, but here goes: I'm not a liberal. Just because someone doesn't like Bill O'Reilly doesn't mean he's a liberal. If I were to say I dislike Michael Moore (which I do), would you say I'm a conservative?
This was a post about a TV celeb, Bill O'Reilly, and his opinion about one of the biggest TV shows in history and my opinion of both. Nothing more needs to be read into it.

That's pathetic, Bob. Captain Obvious hit the nail on the head with his duck comment. I second that "quack".
Misdirection, dreaming and blowing smoke up the asses of anyone within earshot are trademarks of liberals. You are no different.

Yeah, yeah, and I bet you drive a prius and like, volunteer at homeless shelters on the weekend, huh Bob? Why don't you go back to your french wine and cheese?
::sigh::
I've got your back, Bob. Maybe, until November, just stay away from anyone on the right unless it's a glowing fluff piece? If I could, i'd like to suggest a few other topics to avoid until the elections:
1. Politics
2. News Outlets / Media in general
3. The word "confederate" (the noun, the pronoun, the verb and the adjective)
4. Pretty much anything in, of, next to or belonging in the same sentence as the South, NASCAR, lifted trucks and Ann Coulter.

Eddie, you're missing the point. I didn't respond to Bob's original post attacking him for posting about any of the subjects you mentioned. I just called him out on denying that he's a liberal.
I am perfectly fine with him blogging about any subject. He doesn't need to avoid anything on his own blog.

Where is this week's Mad Men review? The experience of watching the show seems incomplete without being able to hear everyone's ideas about the episode.
