(S04E1/S04E02) "Kenny, I'll get you a Wet-Nap. Your people love those." - Earl Hickey

Well, they wasted no time getting Earl back on track this season.

I must admit that while I enjoyed some of Earl's coma dreams and most of his stay in prison, even I was relieved to see the list back in play.

It's been so long since I've seen Seth Green be funny in anything, I forgot how funny he actually is. Seeing how Green spends a good part of his career making short films and animation that mercilessly mock the current state of cinema, he was the perfect choice for his role.

Randy's acting montage was awesome. I almost did a spit take when he did his Buffalo Bill impression. Much like Green, I had forgotten how awesome Suplee was in movies like American History X and Blow.

I was particularly pleased to see how many Camden regulars were featured in this episode. Kenny, Willie and the gang are a big part of why I watch this show. I'm hoping now that Earl is back home, they can be on the show much more.

It wasn't until the premiere that I realized this episode had reunited Seth Green and Mindy Sterling. I see Sterling on a lot of shows (usually the crappy ones my kids watch), but she hasn't been a regular on a series since the short-lived Manhattan, AZ back in 2000. I suppose there are worse things than to be forever remembered as Frau Farbissina.

The premiere scene was real nice especially because it highlighted the bright side of being so simple. Only in Camden could such a film entertain every member of the community. It brought me back to a simpler time when I thought Smokey and the Bandit was the greatest movie ever.

The second episode started with a barrage of references that I found pretty funny. I generally don't like shows that just reference things in place of jokes, but when Clark mentioned the musical style of Dan Aykroyd, I laughed almost as hard as when I saw the headline about baby suicides.

This episode was chock full of laugh inducing moments. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Mr. Hickey get beaten by a woman to the rocking sounds of Survivor and Earl's projectile vomiting at the mention of his father having sex was brilliant.

Speaking of Survivor, I love the soundtrack for Earl. By using actual well-known hits like "Crying" by Roy Orbison or "Dreamweaver," it gives the scene just the right mood. Whether it's a sad scene, a reflective moment or a joyous victory, the right song can be crucial.

Even though it was nice to have Earl back on track in two very funny episodes, I would have preferred one Earl complimented by 30 Rock. It just makes for better balanced viewing.
