(S03E16) "Tonight is the night you choose your winner." - JerryHaving watched America's Got Talent all summer long, I should have been looking forward to this week's episode, especially since we were treated to the final performances. Somehow, I found myself not caring. I actually ended up surfing the web while watching the episode, something I usually never do. Could it be because the presidential address to the nation on the economy killed the mood? Or maybe it was because the finalists basically gave performances that were similar to what they've been giving us all season?
Even if I didn't give the show my full attention this week, the fact that I can multi task allowed me to get a pretty good idea of how the contestants did. As I've said before, I don't feel like any of the competitors pushed themselves further than what we've seen last week. They all gave fantastic performances but there were no "wow, s/he really raised up his/her game tonight" moments for me. So I have to base my decision on the entire summer of performances.
It won't surprise you if I say that I would like to see Nuttin But Stringz win the competition. They offered consistent and amazing performances all summer and I would definitely buy a ticket to see them in concert. If not them, my choice goes to Eli, even if he's a longshot because, as Piers said it, he's the only singer in the competition that I would buy a CD from now. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see Neal or Queen Emily win since they each have a fantastic voice. I bet a few music producers are waiting in the wings to offer them contracts.
As for Donald, I don't believe he is a contender for the first place. As you know, he's never been one of my favorites and, this week, he didn't wow me enough for me to vote for him. I do wish him the best and hope he gets a call from the producer of a musical on Broadway because he would fit the type of singer they require there.
I leave you with two questions this week: Who do you think should win? and Who do you think will win? Too questions that look alike but one taps into your heart while the other requires you to think with your brain. The results will be announced on October 1 at 9 p.m.

I will be totally shocked if Nuttin but Stringz does not win the price. They are different and bring something new each week, whereas all the other performers just keep on singing. I LOVE Eli's voice and def think he will come in second place esp since he's also playing the piano. The others just stand there and sing...blah!

I just wish they'd have left off some of the filler early in the season and spent some more time on the top 5. Going from 10 to 1 in two weeks is just too fast.

my family's been for Nuttin But Stringz since we first saw them perform. But Eli is also the real deal. The main thing about Eli is that he adds to the song. He is NOT just doing karaoke and singing the song like every other singer. There are subtleties and differences. I wish he'd done something original, or at least not a big hit, as I'd like to hear him sing a song where I don't already know the original version.

Maybe Im getting confused w/ someone else, but didnt he do a song that nobody knew at one time and Pierce mentioned that it was a risk b/c the viewers were familiar.
