It seems like if you're an actress in Hollywood, you're either too fat or too skinny.A couple days ago, EW's PopWatch reported that The CW asked the younger female stars of 90210 (Shenae Grimes, Jessica Stroup and AnnaLynne McCord) to address their "weight issues."
Sure, skeletal celebrities are nothing new (and almost seems like a requirement of fame), but even one of the stars of another CW teen drama, Gossip Girl, thinks a line has been crossed. Penn Badgley (Dan) told Popeater.com that he doesn't like "thin L.A. girls" and hopes "they eat a double cheeseburger or something."
What do you think: are the 90210 stars too skinny? Should the CW do something more drastic about the situation, especially since this show influences young teen girls?
Or, should everyone just mind their own business when it comes to celebrities' weight?

Doesn't matter how skinny they are. The show is so bad. The season pass was deleted from my Tivo after last weeks oh-so-boring episode. I cringed every time they mentioned the stupid peach pit, and the plot-lines are so vanilla it's disgusting.

They are definitely way too skinny, but I'm not sure that CW has any more right to tell them to gain weight than they would to lose weight.
Besides their weight isn't going to help the writing, which is awful. It really is just a bad show that no one would care about if they were exploiting the name "90210."

Another excuse to bash a show that is just on it's third week... the girls of 90210 are fine and I think everyone should mind their own business. Why would a "Skinny Clause" be added to this show, but not for other CW shows like Gossip Girl and ANTM? Nobody questions the models' weight on ANTM and who cares what Penn Badgley says? He also voiced his opinion that Kristen Bell's narration over Gossip Girl should be axed, because it demeaned the show's integrity! Not someone I would be looking to for a quote at the moment...
And it KILLS me when someone will say that the writing on a show (any TV show) is "terrible" or "awful" as if they have written the world's greatest screenplay and know good writing when they see it (or hear it in most of America's case). I was taught that everyone is entitled to their opinion as long as it made sense and was valid. Just say you hate the show because it's not your cup of tea and then move on. Even industry insiders said that the pilot script was excellent after scrutinizing the show for not releasing a screener for them...
End rant.

So... let's summarize, it's okay for YOU to state YOUR opinions... but it's not okay for other people to state theirs.... impressive, very impressive.

I actually think the girls, particularly Jessica Stroup, are too skinny. It's actually kind of distracting to me while I watch the show, and that would be the reason why I can see why the network would interfere. If it influences the audience enjoyment of the show so much to detracts from it as it seems to be doing. And they reall just don't look healthy to me, so that'd be another reason to interfere, I guess--looking out for their actor's well being.
I think Penn Badgely sounds kind of douchey though, picking on another show like he's doing. He should keep his opinions to himself. It doesn't really make him look all that good and has absolutely nothing to do with him.

I was a fan of the original 90210, and I like this one. It isn't the greatest show, but it is doing okay. I do think the younger actresses are a bit too skinny, but I don't see how the network can control that. Hopefully, they take better care of themselves.

Yes. They are too skinny, and the clothing they wear only exasperates it. Jessica Stroup had on an outfit with a super short mini skirt and black leggings. It was the leggings that made me gasp as it make her legs look like pure bone, in the way of a skeleton.
I wish for all celebrities that at some point they can come to terms with their own bodies as beautiful however they are and lose the need to be stick thin, plump-lipped and over-stretched to feel accepted.

Of course they're not too skinny. Just like UGLY BETTY's America Ferrera or GREY'S ANATOMY's Sarah Ramirez aren't too fat.
Too each his (or her) own. Some people will prefer people of one weight group, some will prefer people lighter or heavier. Nothing wrong with that.

Are the 90210 starlets too Skinny?
The simple answer is YES!
Their body shapes are not what you want young teenage women to aspire
to be like.
