I guess it was just a matter of time. Amy Poehler's star has been on the rise for a year or so now, ever since Tina Fey left Saturday Night Live for greener pastures, Poehler has been the female go-to gal on the show. So after the November elections, Amy Poehler will be leaving SNL forever. Sure, she'll still be on NBC, as they're developing a new show around her, that isn't that proposed The Office spinoff. The problem is that this leaves SNL with a serious estrogen problem.Kristen Wiig is funny, but seems a bit limited, and we haven't really seen much from Casey Wilson yet. I can't imagine she expected to go from a featured player to an important female comedian so quickly. What she needs to do, though, is really up her presence on the show. We've seen a bit of what Bobby Moynihan can do as far as wacky characters, so now it's Casey's turn. Hopefully, they'll bring in another woman to diversify the cast a bit more. I vote for Lindsay Lohan. Then the show will be guaranteed a trainwreck every week!

Wasn't this announced like two or three months ago? Because of her pregnancy and other TV deal?

Why are Seth Myers and Darrel Hammond still on the show?
Myers only does Weekend Update and Hammond does 1 to no sketches each week.

He's the head writer of the show thats why he's still there. When Tina Fey was head writer she only really did WU as well.
As for Darrell Hammond however, he just won't leave.

They should bring back the old-school SNL'ers. I mean seriously, what is Eddie Murphy, Dan Akroyd, Jane Curtin, & Chevy Chase doing now anyway?

I always feel bad for Casey Wilson...she hasn't had much to do, yet everyone automatically hates her.
Thing is, the few things she has been in, she's been pretty funny (Ie. Cougar Den, the paralyzed Stripper, and the Micheal Phelps diet). They need to give her more.
Oh yes, and hire another woman. I hear Debra Wilson's available!

Ugh. I know this is "old news" but the thought of any female characters resting on Casey Wilson's shoulders is scary. I haven't seen her do anything but mug at the camera since she came on after the strike. Maybe she'll get better as she grows into the SNL scene, but my assessment thus far is: So. Not. Funny.
Christopher- Seth Meyers is still there because he's the head writer. That + Update = not as much time to be in sketches.

Right now this show doesn't need another cast member or strong female lead, they need to focus on getting new writers. I've waited for a good episode for nearing 2 seasons now and the premiere was worthy of me taking SNL recording off my DVR.
I had no idea Myers was the head writer, the lack of quality totally makes sense now.

Lorne's been auditioning people like crazy. So there will probably be another female on the cast after Amy leaves. Frankly Moynihan's pepper character was like a bad MADtv sketch. Hopefully he's got other stuff. Casey's handicapped stripper piece was alright, but she needs to put herself out there. Much like Kirsten did.
As far as people leaving, Darrell should leave but he won't. And now that he's locked in for a McCain Impression don't expect him to go anywhere. One guy who needs to leave immediately is Kenan Thompson, his crap shtik has gone on waay too long. He has NO vocal range and that Charles Barkley skit was the most pathetic thing on SNL in the past two years! There are plenty of funny minority people out there, how Lorne couldn't hire them is beyond me. But other than that, the core of SNL is still solid, guys like Bill Hader, Will Forte and Fred Armisen are all golden in my book sad thing is that they don't get enough screen time and when they do it's rehashing of characters. Poor Bill just gets straight man roles!

SNL's writers are showing their ongoing desperate "Hollywood" no talent writing/acting lack of skills. The only new thing for me is that their lastest stint has convinced me to shed my old Democratic skin and vote Republican. I hope a lot of the Independents out there, which many of my friends are, do the same.
SHAME ON SNL FOR CONSISTENTLY WASTING EVERYBODY'S TIME WITH THEIR LESS THAN WORTHY DRIVAL AND NOT-AT-ALL FUNNY SKITS
I will definately be unplugging ALL future segments. The show has just gotten too shamefully desperate. Actually, SNL has not been very good for a long time. Maybe the producers should really think about shooting the dead horse already.
