Big Brother 10: PoV Competition #9

Jerry is this week's Head of Household on BB10
(S10E23) "It would be naive of me to believe you all love me for me." - Jerry.to Dan

Time is dwindling down to the final days in the Big Brother 10 house. The five remaining hamsters aren't the ones I would have predicted to still be in there. They're not even necessarily aligned with whom I thought they would be. Instead, we have the alliance of four -- Renny, Keesha, Dan, and Memphis -- against Jerry. But is one houseguest playing the Brian strategy? Read on past the jump for my full review of the show.

The nominations aftermath - or - Let's Make a Deal
Thankfully we didn't have to endure another over ten minute Recap City like we did the other night. They kept this one to just over five minutes. But we still had to see the nominations twice. Oh, and Jerry had another opportunity to remind us that he's 75-years-old. Now, there's one well-kept military secret for you!

Memphis, perhaps trying to improve on Brian's earlier 8,000 alliances, is seen making final two deals with both Keesha and his Renegades ally Dan. Wait ... he's got a deal for the final two with Jerry, too! The multi-alliances caught up much too quickly for Brian. I'm not sure how Memphis thinks he can actually pull it off. It helps that there are fewer people in the house to talk, I guess.

Jerry told Keesha that she's the pawn and he wants Dan to go home. Keesha has seen enough of the show to know that historically being the pawn puts a player in a very precarious position (more precarious than Ollie and April in bed together). She's worried and rightfully so. Even when Memphis tries to convince her she's safe, she's worried. Even when Dan tells her she's safe if the veto is won by the right person, she's worried. Although she has had a strong alliance with Dan and Memphis, now is the time they have to kill off one of their own. Well, not literally kill one, you know what I mean.

Memphis has final two deals with Keesha, Dan, and Jerry

Dan tried to have one of those "no hard feelings" talks with Jerry in hopes that he can smooth things over a bit. He's fully aware that if Jerry has his way, it's going to be the end for him. Jerry was polite enough, but then told us in a Diary Room segment that he wanted Dan gone. When Renny talked to Jerry, she told him she doesn't trust Memphis and Dan. Jerry admitted they could pull a Dan if one won the veto -- pull Dan off the block and send either her or Keesha home. Renny is more worried than Keesha is and with more reason. Remember, it was Renny who warned Keesha long ago that Memphis was a snake. She has a gut feeling about the guy and she's spot on.

Filler time
The filler segments tonight made me chuckle, although one was one of those kind of things which could have ended up differently. And, if it did, as much as I don't care for Jerry, it wouldn't have been funny. That segment had Jerry walking backwards trying to figure out what skywriting from a plane said and he fell smack into the pool. It's like someone slipping on a banana peel -- the instinct is to laugh. Since he wasn't hurt, it was funny. But he's 75-years-old. He could break a hip doing that.

The other filler had to do with the Laurel and Hardy relationship. Er, I mean the Dan and Renny relationship. Dan loves to tease her and push her buttons. Sometimes she has fun with it, other times he gets to be just a bit too much. One of the things he did was mimicking her. He obviously hasn't studied the show too well. He has already been accused of being America's Player by the others. And, he actually was America's Player for one week. The talk has calmed down about that, but his mimicking Renny reminded me of Eric mimicking Evel Dick as one of the America's Player tasks two seasons ago.

Rock-a-Bye Veto
Yet another twist on the "morph" competition, this one had the houseguests all go off to various rooms in the house while one at a time went to the yard to compete. Once in the yard, they had to figure out who the two houseguest parents were of the six "babies" shown on a screen, one baby at a time. Once they ran the names of the two parents and buzzed in, they moved onto the next baby.

The Jerry and Michelle baby in Rock-A-Bye Veto

Dan was up first, stumbling a bit, but seemed to finish in fairly good time. Jerry went next and did far better than I would have thought. Maybe it's because he finally took off that silly Marines t-shirt with the cut-off sleeves and was wearing a Texas A&M t-shirt. I think that had to make a world of difference in his thought processes, don't you? Memphis was up third and the man was a morph-puzzle baby parent naming maniac as he raced through the images.

Then came Renny. Sigh. I wanted so badly for her to do well. She knew she needed to do well. Sure, she wasted a few moments talking about what a cute baby she and Jessie had, but that wasn't her downfall. She wasted many minutes trying every name but Jerry's for the baby with the bald head and Jerry hair! Ack! Bald head. Who in the house has a bald head? He's the only one! Sorry, Renny, I love ya but if you couldn't get that one, you deserve to go. Sniffle.

When it came time for Keesha, she looked frightened of the images. She thought her own baby with Steven looked like a gorilla. I don't know. All of the babies were a bit surreal. After pausing at her own and a few stumbles, she thought she did well. None of the houseguests should have babies together, none of them. It's sad that the Renny/Jessie mix was the only one kind of cute, but looked a bit like a troll doll with a wig.

After they all finished, it was up to Jerry as HOH to obviously read the intros to the results off cue cards in a monotone. Renny took 23:32 minutes, Jerry 8:01, Dan 2:58, Memphis 2z;50, and Keesha 5:16. Memphis has won the Power of Veto.

Sealing deal(s)
Jerry, having recently made the final two pact with Memphis, hopes that Memphis is true to his word. In other words, he wants the nominations to remain the same. But to whom is Memphis more loyal? Jerry, who once called him a (gasp) womanizer and got him all bent out of shape? Or Dan, his Renegades bro? Sure, Dan put him on the block once, but it all worked out in the end, right?

While both women worry even though Keesha has been told she doesn't need to worry, it becomes a spotlight on the testosterone crew. Jerry went to Memphis for reassurance. Memphis then went to Dan and told him that he had to promise not to pull any more crazy antics if he saves him with the veto. Dan promised, but I didn't notice him swearing on anyone or anything.

Keesha thinks Dan is a snake who will throw both of them under the bus. Renny thinks neither can be trusted. Renny seems to realize that she's a dead woman walking in the house. Jerry might be fooled by Memphis, but both Renny and Keesha know that Dan and Memphis are an item. I mean an alliance, of course.

The Veto Meeting
Memphsi was kind enough to let us know that he's a bit worried that all of his deals might backfire. He has final two deals with everyone except Renny. If he saves either nominee (Dan or Keesha), Renny would go on the block. Even though Jerry thinks they should get Dan out because he's a stronger player, Memphis wants Renny out.

The nominee speeches were rather short and sweet. Dan, maybe not pulling any crazy antics, thanked everyone, said it would be a great gift for his birthday but there would be no hard feelings if he wasn't saved. Keesha had a "no hard feelings" bit in her speech, too. She said she knew it was hard and that the four have had each other's backs all through the game.

Dan, the Renegade, is saved from the chopping block

Memphis said, "I have made a decision ... (long dramatic pause) ... to use the power of veto to save Dan."

So, now it's Keesha and Renny on the block Keesha, despite assurances from her so-called allies, is worried that she'll be voted out. Renny knows for sure that she's the likely target of the only two who can vote. She's determined to fight.

Who would you prefer to go home this week?
