Lost may be the twistiest-turniest show on TV, but there is still one thing you can always depend on: death is never the end. Producers have proven this once again by announcing the return of the late LAPD officer, Ana Lucia. Michelle Rodriguez, who played Ana Lucia during Lost's second season, wasn't exactly the most popular character the drama has ever had, so I doubt her resurrection was the result of a rabid fan uprising.Rodriguez, of course, isn't the first deceased "Tailie" Lost has brought back. Cynthia Watros, who played Libby, appeared in one of Michael's visions last season. Rodriguez's return is fueling speculation that Mr. Eko, who met his untimely demise at the (hands?) of the smoke monster, may also return in some form.
Since we're talking about Lost here, there isn't exactly a wealth of details available about Ana Lucia's reappearance. However, there is a little bit of interesting information, which I've put after the jump for all of you spoilerphobes.
The episode that Rodriguez will appear in will most likely be the second episode of the season. Since it's unlikely that she survived being pumped full of bullets and then buried, she's probably going to appear as a vision. Cheech Marin, who plays Hurley's father, is also scheduled to appear in that episode, so there's a good chance that Ana Lucia is going to be added to the list of dead people that stop by to hang with Hurley. On the other hand, she may not be appearing in a spectral fashion at all. Hurley's father has a shady past, so there's also the possibility that he had a run-in with the very real Ana Lucia back in L.A.
The Tailie season was my least favorite in Lost's history, so I'm not exactly psyched to see Ana Lucia back. However, I can't imagine that the producers opted to have her appear this season if they didn't have a juicy storyline cooked up.
Are you glad to see Ana Lucia back, or do you wish the dead would just stay dead?

She will most likely appear in a flashback for 30 seconds and that will be that.

Umm... Spoilers of Lost on the main page?... Should that be a big red flag when you post something?... Seems like a stupid mistake to me.
Thanks for that... I wont be back to TV Squad. Yes, I care that much.

Fullman is right... I can't help it.
And how is this not a spoiler? It either means she will come back from the dead or appear in a flashback... I wanted to be surprised to see that she is alive and be like, "OMG she is alive!" Now I will just be like, "eh, she's alive... like I didn't know that already because TV Squad ruined it."
Notice the difference in my excitement.

You all need to relax, you know Matthew Fox will appear in a bunch of Lost episodes, too, that doesn't mean you know what'll happen.

Really? Just knowing an actor will be around in Lost again is a spoiler? Absolutely no real plot points given out...in a show that has had specters almost of every character ever involved in Lost regularly. Alright.

Is plot the only reason you watch a TV Show? I personally like the element of surprise, It is very rare to have a show that you can't predict.

I so hate when spoilerphobes think casting news is a spoiler. This is Lost for craps sake. You should know better than to think it means anything huge for the story. It's called speculation. I bet you same folks hang out with your buddies trying to determine what happens next or to figure out the "clues" in numbers.

Coooooome ON! This is not a spoiler! You might as well stay completely off of the internet if you're worried about teeny tiny casting news like this spoiling an episode for you. Have some faith that the return of Anna Lucia is going to be the least exciting thing about the episode.

I too have to comment on the spoiler title. I know some of you don't really think of this as a spoiler, but there is a huge difference between knowing that Rodriquez will be in the show (even if it is for a 30 second flashback) and not knowing. That's the joy of watching Lost, not knowing what the hell is gonna happen.
I'd rather this didn't happen, but what is done is done =P

By the time Lost returns, the majority of people who read this post will have forgotten all about it, unless you just take everything for a grain of salt and post it on your wall as a shrine to Lost...there's no actual plot info, just that a character will return...I wouldn't be surprised the French Chick returns.

I'm with the ones who got spoiled. I mean, it wouldn't be the same if I knew Libby was going to appear in Season 4...And when she appeared I yelled in shock. That was a surprise I wanted...one I won't have.

Diego (and all the others "spoiled" by this): STOP READING THE INTERNET. Disconnect your computer right now. Or at least stop reading web sites about TV. It's utterly unrealistic to expect that everything will be a surprise and a shock in one of the net's most talked-about TV shows, one that isn't coming back until January/February. OOPS! I guess that's a spoiler too--you probably wanted to be surprised when new episodes of "Lost" just showed up one day on your TV.
Seriously, be realistic about what you will and won't find out when you're reading web sites about TV. I don't want to know plot details, either--but casting? Come on.
And back to the point of the post: When it comes to Ana Lucia, I do wish the dead would stay dead. I love seeing nearly every other "dead" character make a reappearance, but I hated nearly every minute she was onscreen and "alive". I really do hope it's a 30-second scene where she passes by in the background in a police station. That's more than enough for me.
