The fall season of The Amazing Race is set to premiere on Sunday, September 28, at 8 PM ET/PT. Although it seems to be a bit early, CBS has already announced the teams. Looking at them, it seems my pre-season spoilers were indeed spot on. The aged hippies exist!Phil Keoghan returns as the host of this Emmy-winning race around the world and I'm looking forward to another season of whirlwind excitement. You can check out the new teams in the gallery below and read on past the jump for more about them.
Terence and Sarah: Opposites in many aspects, they've been dating a year. Sarah has an MBA from Wharton and thinks she is more low-maintenance than Terence who she says is more emotional. He sells real estate and coaches runners. Terence is proud of finishing two of the last three NYC marathons. No ages are given, but they look young and energetic.
Marisa and Brooke: A pair of Southern belles out to prove they aren't just cute blonds -- they can be cut-throat competitors and are athletic, too. (Haven't we seen this before? Must we always have a blond female team out to prove the same thing?) They're best friends and not afraid to flirt along the way. Deja vu.
Andrew and Dan: Fraternity brothers who met at Arizona State University, they're referred to as "Team SuperBad" by some of the other teams. They're young -- one graduated last December and the other will graduate this coming year. They think they're entertaining. If Andrew is ever called "Drew," we have more deja vu.
Mark and Bill: Comic book aficionados who want to lay claim to being the "most strategic team" ever on the show. They've been friends for 23 years and first met at a science fiction fair. Mark says he "wears geek like a badge of honor."
Aja and Ty: They're a long distance couple living in two different states (California and Michigan) with their nine-month relationship. They first met four years ago in Detroit while both were in college. Ty is very athletic, but Aja says he has a poor sense of time.
Toni and Dallas: This is a mother and son team. Toni was a single mother raising Dallas, but he's now on his own and attending college. Dallas says his biggest pet peeve about his mother is that she tells long-winded stories. Let's see if this mother/son team might actually do what others haven't been able to do before -- win.
Nick and Starr: Yes, it's the brother and sister team of the season. They almost always have one, but I'd rather siblings than blond women trying to prove how athletic they are. They say they're extremely driven and competitive, especially with each other. Hopefully they can team up to beat the other teams and not just out-do each other.
Anita and Arthur: They've known each other for 26 years and have been married for 14 years. Donning their tie-dyed shirts, they look like throwbacks to Jerry Garcia. They make and sell their own honey and recently purchased a blueberry farm. They don't look in the best of shape, but we'll see how they do.
Kelly and Christy: Yes, another attractive young female team. These two are best friends who say they've been through a lot in the past year and want to prove they can overcome anything. They think their Texas charm will be an asset in the race.
Ken and Tina: They're married and he's an ex-NFL star who played for the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Diego Chargers. He thinks she's too controlling while she thinks he makes bad choices, including infidelity. They've been separated for nine months and hope to put their marriage back together. I don't think we've seen this tactic work all that often.
Anthony and Stephanie: Yet another couple in a break-up situation hoping the show will repair the relationship. At least these two are just dating, not married. We can expect constant bickering, but Anthony says if they make through the race, he will propose. I hope they go quickly if they bicker all the time.

I'm tired of the the "we want to prove we can overcome anything" type of lines. Meh. So what... I want someone to say, "we want to prove to the world that we can win $250,000 (after taxes) while taking a vacation from work for over a month."

I'm hoping some of these people jump out a little more once they start talking. So far, no one's that exciting on paper.

Mark had better wear "geek like a badge of honor." He's the Chief Financial Officer of Comic-Con.
