After many years, NBC has finally updated the suits that their pages wear to guide visitors around the NBC studios. But you know what? I like the old ones.Take a look at the new suits on the right. Sure, they're Brook Brothers and they're sophisticated, but they just look like regular suits. There's nothing that stands out about them. It's as if people put on regular nice suits and then added some pins and badges to them. Doesn't look right, in the same way you sometimes see guys wearing three piece suits with a baseball cap.
Now after the jump, take a look at the one Kenneth wears on 30 Rock.

Now that's what a page uniform should look like. Sure, some might say it's "just a blazer," but aren't the pages supposed to look distinctive? Besides, I think that's a rather nice, sharp color. The new ones are too bland.
Maybe 30 Rock will do an entire episode about the new uniforms that pages have to wear. Maybe Kenneth can rebel and refuse to wear his. I don't know, maybe I'll have to see a better picture of the suits to fully appreciate them.

As someone who's seen them in person, I'm so happy they changed them. Everyone in my tour group kept making fun of the old uniform, hardly concealing their laughter from the guide, who just seemed to have dreams of working in television. It was humiliating.

No offense, but what the hell kind of blog has this become? Yesterday you informed us of why you aren't watching the Olympics and now that you don't like NBC page uniforms. Is there any tv-relevant news or has this become the Bob Sassone's rant-squad?
Keep on like this and you'll be Andy Rooney within a few months.

So he won't watch the Olympics, but he'll watch The Mole. Do you hear that? It's the sound of every athlete sighing in disappointment.
I read this article because I was confused as to why it was even posted here, at least in the format it was. Whether you like them or not is irrelevant, why not just report the story without making it all about your person opinion Bob?

Alright - coming from someone who wore the old suit and wears the new one.. This one rocks in comparison.. I don't know about you, Bob, but if you had to go every day - six days a week, ten hours a day, you'd hate the old one too. We felt like we were playing a cruddy game of dress up every day putting on a suit that - for the girls looked (and felt) like blue potato sacks and for the boys - had ties with little peacocks that actually looked like naked chickens.. Dressed like that - how are we supposed to professionally represent NBC and what the company stands for? I - on several occasions had twelve-year old kids asking me how I could stand to wear the outfit every day. How are we supposed to gain and keep the respect of the general public as guest relation liaisons if we cannot even gain the respect of preteens?? Not only this - but we are mature, respectful, brilliant young adults and when we are running around the building which houses the most prestigious broadcasting network ever - we want to look like mature, respectful and brilliant young adults..
The new suits may not have crazy rainbow chickens plastered all over them - and why should they be? They don't need to be flashy or "distinctive" being a page means that we are already gaining the attention of the general public - we don't need to wear wild PAGE PROGRAM attire in order to distinguish ourselves.. our attitude and our personalities set us apart from the rest...
Thanks. peace. and page loooooove

Just throwing in my two cents, and I really don't intend for this to sound pissy - just expressing my feelings.. because I see this time and again on this blog....
This topic totally belongs on this blog. Even the fact that it is of someone's opinion is great too. This blog is to talk about all things related to TV. That means discussions on the details of the major networks as a whole, as a company, etc. If he had posted "NBC Changes Page Uniforms" .. well.. woopie do, no umph. Stating the opinion "I don't like.." draws attention to the article; let's find out why the blogger doesn't like something. "Hey maybe I like the new outfits! I'm going to leave a comment about it now.."
In virtually every blog post lives an opinion of the blogger that posted it -- it's the whole point of blogging.
If you just want simple TV-related news, pick up TV Guide or EW.. or some other out-dated publication.

Problem is that so often you think to yourself that the post has just been written to gather adviews.
It's not so much an "opinion" but the "let's see how I can piss off as many readers as possible just with the headline and then explain in ludicrous terms the reason to attract as much heat as possible".
Usually compared with a distinct display of lack of knowledge about the topic combined with unwillingness to do research.
And usually it's author-dependent. I would really love to be able to pick RSS feeds by author here.

I like the uniforms - they are way more sophisticated than when I was a page in Burbank ('84-'85).
