In the Lame Title Department, ABC's annual New Year's Eve show will now be called Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. I dunno...couldn't they have come up with something snappier? Like maybe Dick and Ryan's New Year's Rockin' Eve ... oh never mind.
Anyway, it's old news that Ryan Seacrest has been co-hosting the show for the past three years with Dick Clark, who suffered a stroke several years ago. But now Seacrest has his name in the title, so I guess it's official.
How he finds time to do everything he does is beyond me: host of Fox's America Idol (but who knows, maybe not for long), host of the daily E! News program, and his second time hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards next month. I'm sure there are 50 other things I'm missing.
This will be the 37th anniversary of the New Year's Eve special on ABC. I'd love to hear YOUR suggestions for a show title. Let's help ABC out.

I caught the first few minutes of Rockin Eve last year. Wow. I get that Dick is a businessman. Maybe he needed to show investors that he was still alive or something. But seeing one of our most prolific communicators struggling to put a sentence together was really sad. He's a giant, he's Mr. TV, but maybe it's time to pass the torch. I just wish he wasn't passing it to this generic, grinning idiot.
