Ball BusterAnd now, a post about busting balls.

Oh, come on, get your mind out of the gutter! I'm talking, of course, about the strategy board game from Mego in the 70s. The game was called Ball Buster, and the object of the game was (and I'm not kidding) "to bust your opponents balls." Take a look at the video of the commercial after the jump. It wouldn't be so funny if the announcer wasn't trying to sound all sleazy and knowing ("and for adults, it's exciting"). The wink by the mom at the end doesn't help either. I can picture the cast of Swingtown playing this.

I vaguely remember this game from my childhood. I'm still trying to figure out the object of the game. Looking at the pic and that opened ball that seems to be oozing something like the inside of a Cadbury Easter Egg, it looks like you literally had to bust open your opponent's playing pieces. Doesn't that seem a bit dangerous? Were pieces flying off left and right hitting players? (thanks to Pop Culture Junk Mail)

I wonder if that ad would even fly today? After all, they're pulling a lot of ads from the air rather quickly these days. The Snickers Super Bowl ad featuring the two mechanics in an accidental lip lock was pulled pretty quickly, and this recent Snickers (again!) ad featuring Mr. T has caused a lot of controversy for the double meaning of its tag line:

And since we have a little theme going, here's an ad for Nads.
