Even in the world of overdone magic trick specials, this one looks like it was especially overdone.If you haven't heard, illusionist Criss Angel escaped from an imploding building Wednesday night. The A&E star was handcuffed to a six story building and had to unlock the cuffs and escape the structure via a helicopter on the roof, before tnt went off and the building imploded. Did he make it? The fact that you haven't heard any news reports of his crushing will probably give you the answer.
I forgot the live episode was even on, but Eric Deggans watched it and says it was pretty lame, even if it did seem that the illusionist couldn't unlock a door and had to kick in a window and escape another way. Not only was the show dragged out with needless behind the scenes footage and interviews (like they all are), the trick itself was suspect. Deggens thinks that some of it may have been pre-taped, and that host Tim Vincent was too calm during the whole trick.

Yeah, it was a pretty lame stunt. While I was watching it, I thought it was quite obvious that the surveillance cameras inside the building weren't actually live; maybe the first couple of cameras were, but after that, he could have been getting out through the basement while we saw previously recorded footage of him struggling with the last locks.
Also, I think the footage from the cameras cut off (as if destroyed by the explosion) a few seconds before the building actually exploded, which makes me think that the taped footage wasn't synced properly with the real-life action.

Criss Angel is totally overrated, in my opinion, just like David Blaine and David Copperfield. I'd watch a magic show with Penn & Teller any day, but somehow I just can't stand these other pricks. Big effects and a magician with black leather clothes, tattoos and a rock star demeanor don't necessarily make a good magic show.

what's funny is law and order:ci just did an episode about a very similar jerkwad illusionist who dies doing some sort of prerigged stunt...while i wouldn't wish harm on anyone, chris angel is near the top of the list of folks whose injuries i wouldn't mourn greatly (seriously dude, even your name pisses me off).

Every one has something to say, but I think he's got it going on. He does what he enjoys. Most people talk about what they want to do, and do nothing. I believe, he can do anything because he tries, no matter what people think.

I read an article that Criss stated, "That Cameron Diaz, was out of his league". He's underestimating his self, people are people, no matter who you are. There is no one that should make you feel that they are not in your crasp.

I was in Las Vegas in April walking down Freemont Street and came across a shooting for something to do with Mindfreak. The way Criss Angel was acting between the takes just made the word douchebag pop into my mind instantly.

angel never makes it to the helicopter. the building blows up, and the helicopter takes off. when the helicopter lands, the pilot deboards --and it's criss!

haha,good thing i have dvr,,i was watching scare tatics when the supposedly live criss angel aired,so i could fast forward through all the bull crap,and see the worse,prerecorded stunt ever,and did you notice how he had no cuts and scrapes,or no rips in his clothes,lmao,he just had a bunch of dust on him,hes a fake
