If you like strong women on TV, the kind you've been seeing on TNT in The Closer and Saving Grace, you'll be happy to hear that the network has more formidible females on tap. TNT has given the greenlight to a new drama called Time Heals. And with the kind of top notch talent behind the scenes, I can't imagine this drama not making it to air.The guy who is creating the show, John Masius, is an Emmy-winning writer, having grabbed two Emmys when he worked on St. Elsewhere. So, yeah, this is sounding better and better because Masius knows about medical drama and Time Heals is the story of Nancy Hawthorne, a single mother who is the head of nursing at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. She's the type of woman who really cares about her patients and becomes emotionally involved in her job.
Masius is head writer and co-executive producer with Jamie Tarses (My Boys). In addition to St. Elsewhere, John has delivered other shows that I watched regularly and enjoyed including Providence, L.A. Law, and The White Shadow. More recently, he was writing Dead Like Me. He even won a Humanitas Prize for an episode of Brooklyn Bridge.
Seeing how TNT has managed to snag Kyra Sedgwick for The Closer and Holly Hunter for Saving Grace, and Glenn Close doing Damages for FX, and Edie Falco coming up in another medical show -- Nurse Jackie on Showtime -- a big name star is likely to anchor Time Heals. Hmm...you think Geena Davis is ready to give TNT a try? CBS has done nothing with Geena's cop drama from last spring.

wooo North Carolina! i like when shows are set in my home state. i like even better when they're filmed here too. hopefully they'll use the great scenery of the city and not film entirely on a sound stage in LA.

I agree 100% with the above. I sure hope they film in NC!
I was even depressed when they moved Cavemen out of my other hometown, Atlanta... sad, I know... but glad to hear a show with some potential is going to be set in my other backyard!

The only thing wrong with this is that a head of nursing at a hospital is in Administration. She doesn't wear a uniform, she doesn't deal with patients, and her basic concern is keeping the place staffed and running and preventing problems, not to mention keeping in budget. 99% of the time, she doesn't even SEE a patient. She's in her office, covered in paperwork. She probably only sees nurses themselves for a few minutes when hired. Been there, done that.
