(M6) "I love you." - Janet
Here it is folks - the minisode that actually aired last night. For those just joining the action, I went ahead and reviewed this week's episode after seeing it online. I didn't watch the broadcast. Big mistake - on my part and FX's. They uploaded next week's installment, "Sandwich," by accident. They've also since pulled the wrong video from sites like Crackle and Hulu and they've yet to upload the right one. Oddly enough, I was able to find it on MySpace and I've embedded it at the end. All that being said... I wish "Sandwich" had been the right episode because this one stunk.
Tommy had another one of his dreams, almost eerily similar to his twisted wish in "Fantasy." This time, he was in a bar, with Sheila... and he was drinking, despite having Mick watching him from a distance. He began to make out with Sheila on a pool-table and then out of nowhere, Jimmy and Janet showed up too. Then they started making out on the same pool table.
Not one word was uttered during the entire thing, except for when Janet mouthed "I love you" to Tommy while Jimmy gnawed at her neck. Then Tommy snapped awake. He was at a bar with Mick and he had ordered a water. All in his head.
Overall, it was boring as hell and only brought up issues that we knew about anyway:
- Tommy's drinking problems and his difficulty in accepting his sobriety.
- Tommy's guilt from sleeping with his dead cousin's widow, which manifested here as Jimmy giving it to Tommy's ex.
Other than those two obvious points, this one was a throwaway. No real value. With only a few of these minisodes left (3, not counting next week's, which incidentally, I won't be reviewing... since I already did), I was hoping for a few good season 5 hints and so far we've gotten zilch.
Oh and one final question... did anyone understand the title? Supreme? Was it a reference to the song that played in the background?

For what it's worth, the error of putting Supreme up Tuesday was made by a vendor working for Sony Pictures Television, which runs Crackle. It was not made by FX. We're glad you liked Sandwich. For what it's worth, we liked Supreme as well-- different flavors for different folks.

John -
Thanks for clarifying, I appreciate it. Supreme was just so-so in my opinion; seemed redundant considering what we already know about Tommy. Sandwich, on the other hand, is an instant classic - and believe me, I'm always in favor of seeing new material before it airs :)
