Project Runway: Grass is Always Greener

Project Runway(S05E02) First of all, I thought last week lacked a fancy new intro because the episode was packed the rafters with new season goodness. However, since we got nothing again, I suppose this was just another instance of Bravo not caring enough to give the show the love it deserved.

Secondly, I have decided that I don't have a favorite this season, just some people that annoy me less than others. Everyone is so self-conscious this time around. I pray that Blayne leaves the show soon, just so this "-licious" craze he is attempting to jump-start will die a quick death. Plus, I'm tired of adjusting my display to make sense of his tan.

This week's challenge began with a really interesting twist. Not only were the models going to be the designers' clients, but they would be the ones heading out to Mood to pick out fabric for their cocktail dresses. Plus, the fabric had to be enviro-friendly, because this whole episode was about going green. I wonder how many of the designers were thinking about the color when Tim Gunn told them that they could only pick green fabric.

I don't understand why everyone was so worried about working green, though. It's just fabric. PR made it seem like this was tougher than the grocery store challenge from last week. Also, the previews from last week got me super-excited, because I wanted to see in what context Tim Gunn said, "Holla at ya boy!" but there was nothing. We didn't even get to see that pterodactyl comment. I'm crushed.

The special guest judge was everyone's favorite Natalie Portman, Natalie Portman. She looked stunning, as always. Check out this week's designs here.

Keith: I can't wait until the group starts getting smaller and smaller so that everyone gets more airtime. Right now, PR is focusing heavily on the most annoying personalities, leaving more quiet people like Keith in the background. We didn't even see the guy until the runway. His creation was pretty good, but the shortness was a little weird for a bubble skirt, I thought.

Terri: This was a great dress! It looked like one of the most wearable out of the entire group. I feel like Bluefly would sell more of this one than the winning garment. Just like Keith, Terri didn't get much attention because she wasn't obnoxious enough.

Wesley: [AUF'D] Wow. Wow. Wow. Wesley did not deserve to be kicked off this week. Sure, he made a mistake with the length, but Mr. Michael Kors' reaction was way too exaggerated. Most of the garments from this challenge were too short. And Wesley's outfit certainly wasn't one of the best, but had it been in any other fabric, it would have been spectacular.

Leanne: [ALMOST AUF'D] Everything about this outfit was wrong, and I was fully prepared for her to go home. Nothing could have been done to save that dress. She definitely did have too many ideas going on, but the judges failed to point out that they were all bad ideas. Come on.

Jerell: This was interesting, but not particularly flattering. I enjoyed the strange color combination, at least. Jerell was yet another person that wasn't obnoxious enough to get facetime this week.

Jennifer: The construction of this looked pretty good, but it was wacky. Way too much going on. The colors were nice, though.

Daniel: Cute! Pockets are in, too. It was kind of funny how they tried to milk so much drama about Daniel's time worries, but it really didn't turn out to be such a big deal.

Joe: Boring. Hey, a circle. Wow.

Suede: [WINNER] Bravo to Suede for getting creative and taking on that fabric with full force. That innovation really paid off, as the top didn't seem to fit his model quite as well as it should have. Referring to himself in the third person is also getting old super-fast, but not nearly as speed-of-light-like as Blayne's desperate attempts to coin a new catchphrase.

Kenley: Yeah, this was "chic", but also a bit boring.

Kelli: All I wrote in my notes for this one was "eww eww eww". It's a good thing I'm not a judge on the actual show, because my notecards would be an incoherent mess of stuff like that and curse words. Anyway, this one was a mess. I was so surprised that the judges didn't bite her head off.

Stella: This was a step up from her creation last week, sure, but did it deserve one of the top spots out of all these designs? I thought it gave her model a weird paunch in the front. If a stick like that looks like she has a paunch, what hope is there for the rest of us?

Blayne: Blayne. Oh, Blayne. I want to say I love to hate him, but I don't. I just really, really don't like him. Straight up. He has no right to make fun of Stella's irritating obsession with leather, because he's kind of a mess too. His garment for this week looked tacky and dated, but I suppose it a lot to do with that horrible hot pink. And... Okay, I'll admit: I laughed when he said that Stella's baby came out leatha. I'll sacrifice the laughs to see him go home ASAP, though.

Emily: Wesley got major scolding for the shortness for this dress but Emily was safe. Wow. Her model looked like she was wearing a frilly headband.

Korto: She had an interesting idea, but the lines were in all the wrong places. It's all about execution! She didn't know what she was dealing with, obviously.

Who had the worst garment?
