Back in February we reported on rumors that the BBC would be distributing some of its more popular shows, including Doctor Who, via iTunes in the U.S.. Well, they are rumors no more. To coincide with this week's appearance of the BBC at the San Diego Comic-Con, the BBC is releasing Doctor Who for purchase and download from the iTunes store.
Now, before you get all crazy and start searching for episodes of the show that featured Peter Davison as the fifth Doctor, the episodes that are being offered are from the new series only. And, you can't purchase and download shows from the current fourth series. However, you can download series one through three. This means you get both Christopher Eccleston as the gritty Doctor and David Tennant as the more exuberant Doctor.
This is all connected with BBC's large presence at this year's Comic-Con. For the first time BBC America will have its own booth on the exhibit floor as well as several panels featuring the stars and creative talent behind Doctor Who, Torchwood, Primeval and Spaced. For Doctor Who look for executive producer and new head writer Steve Moffat to join executive producer Julie Gardner to talk about what is coming up for the new series. OK, who knows where I can find a list of Dr. Who episodes that featured Captain Jack Harkness from "Torchwood"? I'm not really interested in the whole Dr. Who mythology, just Capt. Jack's interaction with it.

You might also want to look at "The Unquiet Dead" from Season 1 for a tie in with Gwen that's mentioned in Journey's End from Season 4, and "Aliens of London" from Season 1 for a brief cameo of Tosh (where the "space pig" thing came from in the Torchwood season 2 end. And last possible episode, you might want to see "Tooth and Claw" because that's the episode that results in the creation of Torchwood.

To answer your question, Scott, Cpt. Jack appeared in every episode in season one from his introduction in World War III until The Parting of the Ways. He came back in Season Three in Utopia and and stayed until The Last of the Time Lords. He is also in Season Four's The Stolen Earth and Journey's End. It's a shame that you don't want to watch Doctor Who, because Season Two's story
arc (and arc word) is the creation of Torchwood.
Now, with that being said, I pray that the episodes being sold on iTunes are not edited in any shape, way, or form. I am glad to have caught the original broadcast versions from the BBC itself and was shocked and appalled to see the Sci-Fi Channel and BBCA's butchering of some episodes for time.

can anyone tell me why there are missing second episodes from two episode long episodes (that sounds rather confusing). there are two missing "part 2 of 2" episodes in the iTunes downloads on the store. that seems pretty bad. thanks.

just to make it clearer - episode 3 and episode 9 of the Season 3 series are missing - they seem to be the second parts of the two part episodes. that makes it sort of useless doesn't it? does anyone know why or how to get them?
