Hello! (That will probably get the Google hits up a notch.)
The hit CW show has unleashed a series of new ads for the new season of the soap opera, and it actually uses negative quotes from critics as the main selling point. "A Nasty Piece Of Work!" says The New York Post. "Every Parent's Nightmare," says The Boston Herald. "Mindblowingly Inappropriate," says the Parents Television Council. It's a classic example of a critic's words actually being the perfect ad copy for the audience of a particular show.
Of course, the pics of half-naked cast members in the ad probably helps, too. Though to be fair, I'm not sure what's happening in the upper left corner ad. Is he smoking?

The Parents Television Council thinks of the Children. The only problem is that they think that everybody's a child. Or at least should be protected like one.

Never had watched the show. Got turned off by the title. I think this will make me solidly anti-GG, though.

While I don't watch Gossip Girl, you have to admit that this marketing is brilliant. It's unlikely (and that's the understatement of the year) that the sort of person who watches Gossip Girl actually gives a crap what the Parents Television Council has to say. Who does? So it's rather clever to use their criticisms which basically boil down to "This show shows lots of gratuitous sex" as ad copy.

The show is actually better than I expected, but it's really just FNL but replace football with money.
The conceit of the show is what bothers me. I wish they had chosen someone less famous than Kristen Bell as "Gossip Girl" since the whole time I'm thinking why is this woman ten years older than everyone stalking and blogging about these teenagers, who outside of this 100-student school, no one really cares about.
Eww...
It would have been cooler if there was a series-long mystery as to who GG was. but I guess it's a secret they'll never tell.

I never even consider the actual GG. It's just an excuse for a nice voiceover.
To date, there really hasn't been all that much sex. I suppose they are ramping that up. Great adverts either way.

And to be fair, Kristen Bell was chosen just after VM got axed. So that was prior Heroes and Forgetting Sarah Marshall Fame Index increasement.
Although it was weird to hear her voiceovers be about romance and gossip rather than...well, cynicism.

Kristen Bell looks younger than half the cast members of the show.

Doesn't the fact that these characters are teens kinda make it child porn? Just saying.
