TV Obits: Keyes, Guzman, Kahn, Crane

Evelyn Keyes and John HustonA roundup of TV people from in front of the camera and behind the scenes who have passed away.

  • Evelyn Keyes: Although she was best known for her movie work, including The Seven Year Itch, Gone with the Wind, The Jolson Story, and Here Comes Mr. Jordan, she also guest starred on many TV shows, including The Love Boat, several episodes of Murder, She Wrote, Amazing Stories, and Climax! She was once married to jazz legend Artie Shaw and directors John Huston and Charles Vidor. She died in Montecito, CA at age 91.
  • Claudio Guzman: He was a veteran director of such TV shows as I Dream of Jeannie, Villa Alegre, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Patty Duke Show, Starman, The Partridge Family, Harper Valley P.T.A., The Flying Nun, The Fugitive, as well as several movies. He died of pneumonia in Los Angeles at age 80.

  • David Kahn: He composed the theme song to Leave it to Beaver and also sang on the theme song to The Addams Family. He did background music for many shows over the years, including Mr. Ed, Hopalong Cassidy, The Beverly Hillbillies, Simon & Simon, Green Acres, Petticoat Junction, and the '50s version of Mike Hammer. He died in California at age 98.

  • Les Crane: He did many things over his varied career, including hosting his own late night talk show in the mid-60s (The Les Crane Show) and co-creating what became Casey Kasem's American Top 40. He also guest hosted The Tonight Show, acted in such shows as Love, American Style and It Takes A Thief, and won a spoken word Grammy. He died in California at age 74.
