Holy crap. Everybody's favorite Scientology war bride, Katie Holmes, has apparently used those perfect chompers of hers to gnaw through her ankle shackles and score an acting gig. Holmes is set to guest star on Eli Stone this fall. Producers are staying mum on any details, but sources say that she is signed up for one episode of the fledgling drama. Holmes got her big break on TV, playing Joey Potter on the uber-popular teen soap Dawson's Creek. She also had a few impressive turns in movies, such as Pieces of April and Thank You for Smoking before meeting Tom Cruise and taking an extended hiatus from the business.
Holmes also gave up her role in the Batman franchise before dipping her toe back into acting waters with the critically panned Mad Money. She is set to film her episode later this month and then spread her wings further by traveling to New York to star in a revival of Arthur Miller's play, All My Sons.
It looks as though Dawson's Creek is responsible for Holmes' return to the small screen, as Eli Stone's executive producer, Greg Berlanti, was Katie's boss back on the Creek. Despite its shaky ratings, ABC has shown enormous faith in Stone, giving it multiple chances to succeed. However, a show that no one's watching can only stay on the air for so long, so Berlanti calling in favors in order to generate buzz for Stone's second season seems like a smart move.
I'm part of the problem, as I'm one of the people who has heard good things about Stone, but hasn't gotten around to checking it out. I'm all for stunt-casting when it's not overdone and I'm definitely interested in seeing Katie Holmes back on TV, so I'll be tuning in. For Eli Stone's sake, I hope that there will be more people drawn in who stick around for the entire season.
What about you Eli Stone fans and non-fans alike? Will this make you watch the show, or do you think it's just a cheap stunt?

I found Eli Stone to be sort of dull, though not actually bad. I won't tune in to see Holmes, but it seems like a good move for them.

She has aged so much in recent pictures of her and Tom out. It's good to see her back on TV though. She shouldn't just be known as Tom Cruise's wife.

Katie Holmes is a mediocre actress, at best. Dawson's Creek and Batman Begins were good in spite of her - definitely not because of her.

Over at Newsday's TV Zone, they picked up on the mention of an actor being considered for a cameo who's working right now with Johnny Miller on a movie. Looking through the IMDb, they figure it was a reference to Sir Derek Jacobi......

Katie looks very pretty in these pics. Are you sure that is really her?
Usually she looks extremely medicated in the paparazzi pics of her, which I realize would against the Scientology 'religion'.

Somewhere in the world there's a guy with a gun pointed at the head of someone who's really dear to Katie Holmes and little Tom has that person on Speed Dial.
I still can't fathom how all this could come to pass.
Then again there are mothers out there who send their kids to play with Michael Jackson.
"Let's clean this place up"
Guess so...

Same thing with you aswell macguffin. Gina I agree since that is why you see people bashing her based on who her husband is and beliefs and not giving her a chance.

How predictable.
Anytime anyone says anything against $cientology or one of the $cientologist celebrities those brainwashed culties worship, one of them comes out to scream "bigotry" and "slander."
Been reading too much "entheta" lately, Jason? You aren't "handling" it well. Have you forgotten your "TRs"? You sound really "downstat" and "enturbulated." I think it's time for your "sec check."
Get used to it Jason. Your cult has a nasty rep and people are finding out just how it has come to deserve it. More and more people are learning all about your cult's criminal nature and history every day.
