Lots of spinoffs sputter and die (Joanie Loves Chachi, anyone?) while some actually go on to long, healthy careers (Frasier).
Now The People's Choice Awards and the New York Television Festival want to hear your ideas for spinoff shows. You could win an all-expenses paid trip to New York City and be the official "People's Choice Ambassador" at the 2008 NYTF. The winner will also get to pitch his spinoff idea to a New York talent agency -- so make it good.
The contest (you have to send a video pitch to the site above) starts on July 21 and ends on August 8.
Here's my idea for a spinoff. After helping the Oceanic Six get back to the island, Benjamin Linus leaves the island again and decides to leave his past crazy life behind him. He opens a bed and breakfast in Maine, where he falls in love with a female letter carrier who has a wacky family and a house full of various pets. I call in Lost in Love.
That has Emmy (or People's Choice Award) written all over it.

GOB Bluth, from Arrested Development, moves to New York with Tobias to open a coffee-chain called Gobias A Coffee. Sadly the coffee-shop closes down after one week and they return to the OC (DON'T CALL IT THAT!!). From episode two onwards it's just Arrested Development. So it's certainly worth an Emmy or 20.

This would have been good in 04 or 05:
"Tony Almeida, CTU"
Formerly-disgraced-now-returned CTU agent Tony Almedia works the field for CTU Los Angeles, crossing paths with some of the world's most deadliest terrorists, usually having plans for destroying the city within an hour.

How about "Niles"? A spinoff of a spinoff? Granted he's married to Daphne and together they're kinda snoresville [sweet, nonetheless]... I dunno.
"Lundy" [From 'Dexter'] would be a cool, kinda 'already been done before' show.

Friends Day X:
The Friends reuinite due to a highly funny set of contrived circumstances when a nuclear bomb hits New York. Thanks to Ross Gellar's secret room of Nuclear safety, the six survive and have to make their way through a war-torn landscape, looking out fo rmutants, wild animals and sexual frustration. One minute after getting out into the open, the camera switches from three-camera to single camera just as Monica says, 'Doesn't it feel everything's just got a lot more real?'
Hey, actually I'd watch that. Gotta stop pitching my ideas on here! If anyone pitches this it was my idea!!!!! Where's my camera!

Does it have to be a spinoff of a TV show? Because I have a great idea for a spinoff from Ghostbusters (and no, it's not just Ghostbusters on TV). It doesn't rely on any of the stars or even any of the original characters coming back (not even Slimer).
Dan Ackroyd, contact me :)
