Rescue Me: Criteria

Rescue Me - Criteria
(M3) "I like a bar with a nice clean head." - Lou

I'm gonna have to agree with Lou on this one. Nothing is more disgusting than walking in to a bathroom at a bar and seeing water(?) all over the floors, toilet seats with yellow stains, no toilet paper, and sinks that don't work. Some people though, that won't bother them. After all, you are just going in to pee and leave. Unless you're Lou. And you've had 12 beers. And the "pains" kick in. And there's no toilet paper. And you use your sock. The most troubling thing to me about that? There's lot of people who would probably do what Lou did in the same situation. Ugh.

So what does make for a good bar in the minds of the 62 Truck boys? The obvious things: pool table, Foosball, good beer specials, free shots, and... a hot bartender.

Here's what I love about this show, specifically the writing. The way Leary and Tolan crafted the conversation between everyone when they were talking about the inherent flaws of falling for the hot bartender was almost scholarly. It was like some sort of weird mathematical equation.

Besides Tommy's point that you're essentially paying $12.50 per glance, Franco made the most common sense argument I've heard when talking about hot bartenders which believe it or not, is something I frequently converse about. Bars are dark and crowded, girls don't like that. The ones that are there are probably man-ish Lesbian folk who are digging the hot bartender just as much as you. So you aren't going to score with them and you certainly aren't going to score with the bartender. Genius!

The one other thing worth mentioning was Tommy's tangent about why he drinks alone at home. When I spoke with Leary and Tolan a few weeks ago, they warned that the tone of all these minisodes wouldn't necessarily be funny. I guess this is what they were referring to. It went from funny-ha-ha to depressing in about 2 seconds. But that isn't anything new. Rescue Me has been doing that since the beginning.

Would you use a sock to... you know?
