Well, folks ... it's countdown time! Big Brother 10 premieres on Sunday, July 13 at 8 PM ET/PT. As I write this, casting has been completed but no formal announcements have been made. I will assure you that I won't be in the house this season although I'll be your fly on the wall. You can get your live feed reports here at TV Squad. So, in a way, I'll be in the house. But not in a way that the folks on the internet can rip me apart!Despite the show being just two weeks away, there is little concrete news. But there are plenty of rumors and speculations floating about. Read on past the jump for scheduling news and lots of rumors.
Unfortunately, this season will be airing the same nights as last season. I personally didn't care for the two consecutive nights as the houseguests had a flurry of activity jammed into just a few days with several days of down time. It doesn't really affect those who just watch the shows, but it makes for very odd and sometimes very boring live feed viewing.
The schedule:
- Sunday 8 PM ET/PT
- Tuesday 9 PM ET/PT
- Wednesday 8 PM ET/PT
Allison Grodner is once again the executive producer of the show while Arnold Shapiro bailed out before the start of last season. Julie Chen remains the host and will be once again handling the live eviction nights. There will be a live audience on eviction nights. If you live in the Los Angeles area or plan to visit there this summer, you can find the information about how to get tickets via Audiences Unlimited. Real.com will once again be offering the live feeds (for a fee, of course). Big Brother After Dark on ShoToo (Showtime sister network) will once again air the feeds nightly from 12 AM ET until 3 AM ET.
Rumors and speculation:
I scoured the internet gathering the most interesting rumors from sources such as JokersUpdates, casting director Robyn Kaas' MySpace page, and more.
- The rooms will be decorated with themes from various decades from the '50s to present day.
- Although the theme on recent promos is "Together Again," that's referring to Big Brother and the summer season, not that the houseguests will necessarily have any previous relationships.
- This cast will boast more diversity in ages, race, religion, and politics. (One can only pray this one is true!)
- The cast was selected for their strong and often opposing opinions on various issues in hopes of making for a more interesting season.
- There will be another winter season set for 2009.
- One of the finalists has already quit and an alternate was chosen.
- The finalists are expected to go into hotel sequester sometime this coming week.

Ugh.
It would be nice if America was allowed to actually vote again.
CBS should hire the producer from UK Big Brother. Their version is always more entertaining.

I hope and pray that Big Brother veers closer to the UK version of the series, which is far more sadistic and entertaining in my opinion. They really make it a spectacle with crazy personalities rather than a ruthless game with low-class, vile contestants. I realize the first season was a more-or-less failure, but I still feel the houseguests-nominating-and-public-voting setup and strict rules the UK show employs (i.e. No talking about your nominations to the other houseguests) and subsequent punishments make more sense for this show. I watch BB for the antics more than the gaming.

I am so glad they don't have the public vote. The public always gets rid of the more interesting contestants and leaves the boring ones.
If the public had voted the second season, Will would have been out before the halfway point. It wasn't until after that that people stopped hating him and starting routing for him.

I live in the UK and i tell you now - Our Big Brother is just wrong and rubbish! Entertainment is not the word.
The USA big brother has it spot on - This a GAME something other Big Brother shows across the world dont seem to understand.
As someone said earlier if the public vote they always get rid of the most interesting people and then are the first to say that it has gone boring and stale. Trust me this happens alot in the UK editions.
I love everything about the USA editions - From the competitions (HOH and POV), nominations through to the evictions and everybodys alliances and gameplay.

I have been a fan of BB ever since it's first season. This last one (BB9), I COULD NOT WATCH!! I would turn it on the TV, watch for a few minutes then I'd feel annoyed and bored and I'd have to get up or change the cannel. I hope this summer is better than this past winter!

I still think they should do the following casts:
1. All gays/lesbians
2. All men
3. All women
4. Reality show actors/actresses
I just think it would be interesting to see how the interactions would change as opposed to the mixed format they have now. They really need to start spicing the show up or more and more people will stop watching. I know the last season just about did me in, and I have been a faithful watcher.

I just heard a rumor that the hg's are already in the house and it is supposedly confirmed. They even have a list of first names and ages and a little background info on the hg's. They even have a pic of the Hooter's waitress for this year, Keesha. If this rumor is true, then I guess the first twist has already happened this year. Also the 1st episode will be 50% reviewcrap, yay!
