The eighth season of American Idol will begin auditions on Thursday July 17th in San Francisco. Other cities that will be holding try-outs for the hit singing competition show are Louisville, Kentucky; Phoenix, Arizona; Salt Lake City, Utah; Kansas City, Missouri; Jacksonville, Florida; East Rutherford, New Jersey; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Any TV Squad readers going to sing for Paula, Randy and Simon? If I were to audition (and I won't), I think I'd sing something by Stevie Wonder (cause no one ever sings anything by him), or Mariah Carey (cause her songs are super easy), or maybe I'd just do my own composition and dedicate it to Simon (he likes that stuff).
More audition information is after the jump.
Auditions will be held as follows:
San Francisco, CA: Thursday, July 17 at the Cow Palace
Louisville, KY: Monday, July 2 at Freedom Hall
Phoenix, AZ: Friday, July 25 at the Jobing.com Arena
Salt Lake City, UT: Tuesday, July 29 at the Energy Solutions Arena
San Juan, Puerto Rico: Saturday, Aug. 2 at Coliseo de Puerto Rico
Kansas City, MO: Friday, Aug. 8 at the Sprint Center
Jacksonville, FL: Wednesday, Aug. 13 at the Veterans Memorial Arena
East Rutherford, NJ: Tuesday, Aug. 19 at the IZOD Center at the Meadowlands Sports Complex
And here's some more information about those San Francisco auditions:

East Rutherford = The Meadowlands = New York City minus New York City prices. The IZOD Center probably rents for less than Madison Square Gardens.

East Rutherford, NJ, good they don't pretend and call it NY again. Last time they called it NY even though there were only a few thousand people at that first big audition in NJ. The TV parts were probably done in NY and you know how the public gets so confused. NY??? NJ???? Head hurts.

You have July 2 listed for Louisville, but other sources are quoting that as July 21. I can't find the official list on the AI site. Can you confirm?

Why the fu@k do they keep doing the East Coast last. Im starting to get offended. Why can't we get some of the good first audition slots. It's not a good look for those with talent that can't travel to San Fran. Cuz those of us that have auditioned before know those last couple Audition cities are just for sh*ts and giggles.

I think its stupid that they are not doing auditions in Washington D.C...its the nations capital...but they seem to be going to all the cities where everyone happens to live...looks like there would be a great turnout
