VMAs go back to L.A.

MTV has decided that after a ten-year absence from the west coast, the Video Music Awards will be held this year in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be held on Sunday September 7th at the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood.

What? No Kodak Theatre? No Nokia Theatre? So, why the choice to hold the ceremony at a Hollywood studio lot? Entertainment Weekly says, "Expect executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic to make use of many of Paramount's stages, rooftops, and camera-ready city streets for the star-studded show, which will only air once in its original incarnation."

I just wish they would produce a normal stage show. I'm getting sick of the different stages, the rooftop performances that have crappy sound, the satellite performances that are always lackluster. But, oh well. It looks like they're not going to change the format.

For the past ten years, the VMAs have moved around quite a bit. Miami, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and New York are a few of the host cities. The last time the VMAs were held in L.A. (September 1998), the show was broadcast from the Gibson Amphitheatre.
