You knew it was going to happen the minute you heard she was pregnant. Jamie Lynn Spears, the star of Nickelodeon's Zoey 101 and sister of pop star Britney Spears, has given birth to a baby girl.A friend of the 17-year-old star requested anonymity for this information. The birth has not officially been announced yet, although it seems to be on all the major news outlets. Who do they think they're fooling?
The article mentions that baby-daddy is Casey Aldridge, a pipe-layer from Liberty, Mississippi. Insert your own joke here. The couple is not yet married, but announced an engagement a few months ago.
Fortunately, the fourth and final season of Zoey 101 was completed before Jamie Lynn became pregnant. Had she not become pregnant, would it truly have been the final season?
Mind you, this now frees up some time for Jamie Lynn. Maybe she can follow in her sister's footsteps and get a guest spot on How I Met Your Mother?

Isn't "the legal age" in America 18? Doesn't that mean that both her and her pipe-fitter will be expecting a visit from the police any day now? It's not like they can deny it happened.
I come from a country (UK) where the legal age is 16, and until I saw this headline didn't even know Britney had a sister, so I'm not trying to be nasty to her. Just wondered why on American TV (like that David Kuvochny show where he slept with an under-age girl) it's a huge deal, but in this case it isn't.

From Wikipedia:
"In California, it is illegal for an adult to have intercourse with a person under the age of 18, but it is only a misdemeanor if the child is less than three years younger than the adult."

because being a pipe-layer from the South is, what, demeaning? low class? not hard work? i mean, he's no internet blogger who writes about tv shows and pop stars in an air conditioned and comfortable room.
My cousin is pipe-layer for the summer. He makes enough money in those 3 months to support himself and his wife while they both go to school for the other 9 months of the year.

Whoa calm down... Think about it. Pipe layer... Do all the double entendre possibilities need to be outlined?

Are you sure annacsmith08 understands what "double entendre" means?
I mean read what she said... her brother and his _wife_ go to _school_ nine months of the year.
I am still giggling like crazy about that :-D

I took it to mean a "joke" more along the lines of "He sure laid his pipe in her!" or "It's obvious that his pipes were working" (yuck yuck). That sort of thing.......

I'm assuming you've never heard the sexual euphemism "laying pipe."
Either that or you're hella defensive.

It depends on the state you live in for the most part. The state I live in, Kansas, the age of consent is 16. However, if a 16 year old and a 19 year old were to get together consentingly the 19 year old could be charged with Indecent Liberties with a minor. It's a lesser penalty than rape (my state also did away with the statutory rape designation and combined it into the rape penalty so the sentencing is much harsher). It is a controversial law, but the state wants to keep it on the books so they have a way to punish people in a position of power such as teachers. Otherwise, it is a law that is typically not enforced. Most of the time people just get probation if it's their first offense, which compared to multiple years in jail you would face for a rape charge is considerable less severe. Keep in mind if it was a 15 year-old and an 18 year-old it would be considered rape in my state.
There are also federal laws regarding this but I am not as familiar with them. However, most of time rape is prosecuted at the state or county level. The exception to this is when state lines are crossed (ie transportation of a minor across state lines, kidnapping, etc). At that point the feds get involved.
As to how it works on Californication I have no answer. How laws are portrayed on TV are usually a reflection of want the general public perceives to be accurate. There is probably a law that was broken, but since I am not a resident of that state I am not familiar with their laws and can't answer what crime (if any) was committed.

Funny. I just (again) read up on this in the german Wikipedia.
Seems that in Germany it's considered rape if the minor is 14 or 15 years old and ONLY if the parents push charges. Only if it's of public interest the office of the district attorney can prosecute. Which I guess applies in all cases so if they want to they can prosecute this way or another but you can still hope to get away with it IF the parents don't press charges.
Wow this is kind of insane. 14 or 15 year old and if you get to terms with the parents you are in the clear. Didn't know that.
Once the minor turns 16 though, you can only be prosecuted if you are over 21 years old and if you are employing the minor or if you have custody of the minor (if you were appointed by court to raise the minor or if you adopted the minor).
From age 18 there's no problem with anything at all because 18 = adult.
But still... imagine that, you can have sex with a 16 year old in germany without having to fear _anything_. I didn't know that.
On the other hand a teacher from bavaria had sex with a thirteen year old boy from the US a couple of years ago and got away with it in court because the boy was openly gay and admitted he had prior sexual relations with other boys/adults.
I guess if you don't pay for it and know that the minor is already promiscuous everything is fair game.
Kind of sickening.
