Can we talk ... without using curse words? Comedienne and home shopping pioneer Joan Rivers was removed from a live British talk show for swearing.
Well, OK, it's not like she was dragged off kicking and screaming during the live broadcast (like this guy), but she was asked to leave the set during a commercial break. Rivers was on the show Loose Women (ahem) and they were talking about Russell Crowe and Rivers said that he was "f***ing shit." I think she meant the phrase as an adjective, not a verb.
Rivers is actually over there doing a one woman show on the West End, Joan Rivers: A Work In Progress By A Life In Progress. She has apologized for what she said, the host of the show apologized for what she said, and ITV apologized to viewers for she said.
Just to be safe, TV Squad also apologizes for what Rivers said. Thank you.
Update: Video added after the jump.

I vividly remember Joan Rivers promoting her FOX talk show with spots that highlighted the fact that her late night show would be live - and there wouldn't be any bleeping going on.
I also remember her calling Stacy Keach (who had just been released from prison) a p*ssy on the air.

I don't know who Joan thinks she is, but she is really nothing. Who cares about what she or her daughter think about anyone. They are nothing to talk about. They are big mouths and Joan should cover her face, it is painfull to look at.
Her and her Melissa think they are something important to TV but they are nothing and contribute nothing, they should get real jobs.

It's not so much that you can't say them because lord knows they say them - Ramsay airs uncut there - so much as when you say them. The British maintain a "watershed" hour of 9 p.m. after which anything goes. The show the old hag was on is on in the afternoons.

Like Brent said, after 9pm it's a mo****-f***** swearfest all night. But at lunchtime, on one of the main two channels, on a show that's live and watched mostly by women (sorry, it's true) with small kids around, it's not really appropriate.
I'm one that's always poking fun at American so-called "late night" talk shows where you get bleeped for saying shit, but they're on around midnight. At lunchtime on a show aimed at women who are at home (which generally is because they're raising small families), Joan should know better than that.
In case anyone doesn't know, the UK show "Loose Women" is basically a clone of the US show "The View".

Ms. Rivers SEEMS to be quick-minded still, but I believe she's been slipping for some time now. This crackpot vendetta she's had against Mr. Crowe dates back to a red-carpet snub years ago (he declined to be interviewed by her). Some of the mean-spirited, nearly slanderous comments she has made about him since then lead me to think her age may be catching up with her, brain function-wise. Time to see your neurologist, Joan. There are medications that can help you.

Dammit, I love live-swearing stories but this old crone don't mean much to me! That Andy Dick video was funny, but looked a little staged?

interesting that Joan was called an "old crone" and "hag" here by the blokes on here. sexism never seems to quite die does it? nor does tearing people down, as everyone seems to want to do on here

Why? Do you think that, had she been a he, we wouldn't call her a "dick," a "bastard," a "prick," or any number of male-based words?
So using a term that refers to the female sex is sexism, but using one that refers to the male sex is acceptable?
