NBC has had it pretty easy for the last fifteen years where Thursday nights at 10, 9 Central, are concerned. ER was locked in, and for the better part of that run was a dominant force. Now that the show is finally coming to an end, they need to start grooming a replacement. It looks like it could be a case of meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
ER executive producer, John Wells, has set up a new show, LAPD, at the network. It's an ensemble show that will follow the lives of police officers in Los Angeles and will be written by Ann Biderman. That's a solid choice as she won an Emmy for her work on NYPD Blue. The network has ordered a pilot and casting has begun. Another ER alum, Christopher Chulack, is on board to direct. Can it replace ER? Probably not completely. Remember, ER had a run as the number one show on television. That kind of success is hard to come by. Still, given the talent involved, it is something to look forward to.

Cool so will there be some daft episodes that show the horrible law enforcement conditions in Africa? Maybe a few dozen episodes on the follies for drug enforcement.
Idiots!
The reason ER fell off its top spot was its constant harping on left wing politics. Hiring the same 'tard to do the new show ensures more of the same.

Uhm, Willy, you have no idea what you are talking about. Left-wing politics? The reason ER fell off the top spot is it lost the top actors, and replaced them with extremely poor substitutes, along with the show delving too much into the soap opera aspect, and less into the true human emotion of the stories.
If they go back into what made ER a success the first several years, (and what made NYPD Blue a success for most of its run), this show could be something to watch.

NBC success for the last 15 years? Try more like 30 years. That slot held LA Law and Hill Street Blues before ER. NBC has owned Thursday at 10 for as long as I can remember.

Shoulda never stopped production of Third Watch. Sounds more or less what they're slotting in there, minus the fire department and EMTs.
