Celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels is joining the exer-gaming trend. The Biggest Loser star is developing her own fitness game for Nintendo Wii. Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009 will incorporate Wii's Balance Board into a fitness program. Michaels will provide health advice and exercise routines. She has already released a book (Making the Cut) and a workout DVD called 30 Day Shred. Michaels hopes that her latest venture will attract younger customers as well as adults, and that it will contribute to the fight against childhood obesity. Fitness Ultimatum follows in the footsteps of Wii Fit, another exercise game released earlier this year. Majesco Entertainment intends to release the game during the upcoming holiday season.
Are exer-games really the next big thing in fitness? I own quite a few workout DVDs, but not a Nintendo Wii. I don't see these games surpassing DVD sales anytime soon. However, I love the idea of taking the sedentary nature of video games out of the equation--especially for kids.
Does this trend make you want to buy a Wii? If you already own one, will you give these fitness games a try?

Wii Fit sold very well, and I think if a whole suite of companies enter the category, as I suspect they will, it will greatly surpass DVD's, especially in the under 40 age group. I can't even imagine exercising to a DVD nowadays, that just seems so archaic. (No offense). Either go to a gym, or exercise on your own at home with something interactive. (Either a home gym set or something like Wii Fit).

Wonder if she screams at you in the game and tells you that you can't quit until you collapse dead - just like she does on the Biggest Loser?
