Most Jericho fans already know that two finales were filmed: one series finale and one season finale. When CBS canceled the show, viewers were given a neat, positive end to the series. Video of Jericho's alternate ending was recently released, and now we know what the season's cliffhanger would have looked like. If you read Carol Barbee's description of the original Jericho finale, the clip won't tell you anything you don't already know. It's still cool to watch how everything plays out, though. I don't expect to see Lennie James as Robert Hawkins ever again, so I'll take what I can get. Check out the video after the jump.
What did you think of Jericho's season finale scene? Would you have stuck with the show for a third season after watching that cliffhanger? If Jericho had been renewed, the clip makes it clear that the show would look very different. Jake's attempt to rescue Hawkins would have shifted the focus to the civil war; how much time would be spent on the Jericho townspeople? We can only guess what the writers had planned for the show's future.

OMGoodness, what were the networks thinking, I was already hooked, but this clip would have captured anybody that was borderline. My only hope is that another network like SCi Fi picks this up. Awesome. We need to get this show back on the air.

I'm sorry, but you people are NUTS. IMO, season two of this show was worse than season two of Prison Break. Good riddance!
(Although, I never saw the finale. Did the show end with everything being Cheney's and Dubya's fault like the whole season was?)

So the difference between this ending and the one that aired:
1) Hawkins is captured by Cheyenne. Jake and Hawkins' buddy (whose name I forgot) board the plane to fly back into Cheyenne to save Hawkins.
2) There is no air combat between the Cheyenne and Texas air forces. (Maybe they would have recycled this computer-animated footage for the third season premiere, when Jake flies back into Cheyenne airspace.)
Overall, I'm happy that the bomb was still delivered to Texas. So that story arc was concluded.

That would've been a GREAT season finale leading into Season 3. Oh well, such is life, unfortunately.

I would have stayed and watched season 3, 4, 5...anytime Skeet was onscreen was magic. So miss this show, sick of all the reality shows and L & O 24/7, this show was a shot of creativity.
The networks don't care who watches, they only care who pays the bills, the advertisers, and if they don't see a return for tehir $$$ they throw their weight and get the plug pulled by withdrawing their advertising $$$. And we lose!

Jericho season 3, 4 and beyond... Jericho Rangers will be there. I personally liked the aired ending, but would like to see seasons 1 & 2 reran for new fans. Then substitute the alternate ending and go from there. Whatever the writers decision, it will be brilliant.

I think the next season would have been great! Jericho is a town just over the border in the civil war. Operating an underground railroad getting people out of J&R space. The former military now siding with the East and Columbus. Having to stage guerrilla warfare with the Jericho Rangers against J&R strongholds. Holding there own against attacks. And still trying to operate as a city under siege. Food shortages would still happen much like Berlin when it was surrounded by the soviets and the Berlin airlift was the only way it survived. This show was amazing for showing history repeating itself!
Jake and Chavez having to act way behind enemy lines to find Hawkins and then recover him and work their way back to Jericho via the underground!
sounds awesome!
