Finally, a new teaser for the much anticipated Family Guy spin-off, The Cleveland Show. Actually, "anticipated" is probably a strong word since American Dad has already destroyed my faith in Seth MacFarlane's ability to produce another hit. Frankly, I don't see how The Cleveland Show could possibly be worse than American Dad.
"New" probably isn't the right word either since the following video looks like something that most likely aired during last month's upfronts. But hey - I hadn't seen it yet, so it's new to me. Complaining aside, I'm pumped for this show and the preview doesn't disappoint. The idea of Cleveland packing his bags and heading south to marry a woman he hasn't seen since high school is hilarious to me. Bears and British folks as neighbors? This could work. Video and full description from FOX after the jump.
"The Cleveland Show (Sundays, Spring '09 on FOX): Many years ago, Cleveland Brown (voiced by Mike Henry) was a high school student madly in love with a beautiful girl named Donna. Much to his dismay, his love went unrequited, and Donna wound up marrying another man. Cleveland once told Donna he would always love her, and if this man ever done her wrong, he'd be there when she called. Well, this man done her wrong. Donna's husband skipped town with another woman, leaving Donna with a daughter and a baby. Now she's come to Cleveland and offered him another chance at love. Unattached after the Loretta-Quagmire debacle and true to his word, Cleveland joyously accepts and he and Cleveland Jr. move to Stoolbend, VA, to join their new family. Once in Stoolbend, Cleveland has a few surprises in store for him, including a flirtatious new stepdaughter, a 5-year-old stepson who loves the ladies, as well as a collection of neighbors that includes a loudmouth redneck couple, a British family seemingly stuck in the Victorian era and a family of bears living at the end of the block. Family Guy was only the beginning. Get ready for The Cleveland Show!"

So sad to see him go from Family Guy, but if this is what it takes to get new episodes of either show, that's fine with me. Takes South Park a week to make a show, takes Family Guy six months.

I'm sold! The bear characters already look like they could steal this show.
Kind of weird that Cleveland will no longer be on Family Guy. I mean, this isn't live-action, so it's not like it wouldn't be possible to have the same voice actor working on both shows -- just create a "split continuity" (which could be funny).
I wonder who will be the fourth guy to replace Cleveland, among the group of four pals on FG.

Definitely like the bear family too. Cool Ranch Doritos - Good for three bites, then rubbish.

Ok let me get this straight: your faith is ruined, you don't anticipate much, you don't expect another hit but then you go on and say you are pumped for this show.
I suggest you go back to the bathroom and think a little bit about your angle. First you crap all over this and then you say it's not disappointing. Maybe I am just blind but you kind of chose the brücke von arnheim as your bridge between the two riverfronts.

Wow, somebody who agrees with me! I thought I was the only one who actually likes American Dad! a lot more than Family Guy!
Anyway, I think this has potential after seeing this promo, which is good because I thought it was a horrible idea before seeing this.

i agree family guy is good...but so is american dad. it's unique in its own way (sure somethings look similar) but there is a completely different feel to the show. i sometimes look forward to american dad more so than the simpsons and family guy each sunday.

Another vote for American Dad here. The poster of this blog entry must have not seen the show since the first half of the first season, therefore his complaints are invalid. American Dad is literally 10 times better than Family Guy in that it actually has a plot and feeling. Family Guy while funny is more sketchy. How anyone can not like American Dad while loving Family Guy surprises the hell out of me.
"Vacation Goo" for example. Pure genius. And this seasons finale was amazing. Don't like American Dad? Get the hell out of here. I don't want to read your stuff anymore.

Aye! Having been a big FG fan from the beginning, since the "return" and then the appearance of AD, I have to say for me AD >>> FG (post-hiatus).
I f***-ing love Roger!

Thank you! American Dad really has improved on its first season and frankly I think it might be the best Fox cartoon right now. Its definitely got the most dedication to the characters. Meanwhile, Family Guy has slipped into mediocrity with some off its worst episodes every in the last couple of seasons without much in the way of bright spots.

Guess what Jonathan Toomey, you're wrong! Family Guy is inferior to American Dad and all these fans agree that you are wrong. How on Earth could American Dad be considered to be worse than Family Guy? Is it that AD has plotlines? Or is it that the comedy actually has something to do with what's going on in the show? Maybe it's the fact that AD isn't written by Manatees in a tank with idea balls...seriously, you're like those people who thought that Futurama was worse than the Simpsons when

Family Guy is pretty much at that point now, I find myself laughing maybe 2 times in an episode and cringing like 5 times and looking at my watch like 10 times. This show will probably be stupid, but it could be funny...

Also agreed. American Dad started off pretty rough, but these days I get way more out of it than the average Family Guy episode. I'm pretty sure FG is now officially on auto-cruise. The manatees seem comfortable and in their zone.

I think American Dad is a better written show than Family Guy, but I wouldn't say that it was more enjoyable. They're both pretty detestable as far as I'm concerned.
