The 2008 Best New Female Vocalist of the Year, Taylor Swift, is set to perform on Nashville Star as part of the show's two-hour season premiere. Touted as the first country music star of the MySpace generation, Swift (18) is also the first female country artist to write or co-write every song on her debut platinum-selling album. One of country music's youngest songwriters, her single "Our Song" spent six weeks atop Billboard's country chart. The show's premiere will also feature highlights from the auditions and reveal the Top 12 Finalists who will be crooning their way into your hearts this summer. I know Nashville Star sounds like the country music version of American Idol but judge John Rich begs to differ. Please, Please, Please someone cancel this show and give it back to USA Network. I totally disagree with Brenna on this one, they need to start from scratch back on USA. This cannot be the same production company that put on the previous seasons. The stage was awful, none of the intimacy and atmosphere of the previous venue. The show audio quality was horrible and the band sounded terrible (if this is the same band as previous seasons then the show audio was even worse than I thought). I never thought of Nashville Star as a Idol wannabe as the talent level was always pretty high but this season the talent level seems to be way off. Even though the success of previous seasons contestants has not been off the charts you would think the exposure (especially with this season being on NBC) would bring out more talent than this. Miranda Lambert from season one has been the biggest star so far and season one winner Buddy Jewell had great success with his first album. I will continue to watch this season as I really like these kind of shows (please bring back Rockstar!) but it will always be with DVR so I can fast forward when needed. Hopefully this season will get better and change my mind but as of now I am very disappointed with the show so far.
