Fans of drug-related jokes, unapologetic ignorance, and illiteracy rejoice! The season three DVD set of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia will hit store shelves on Tuesday, September 9th according to TV Shows on DVD.
Unlike the massive wait we all had to endure before the double release for seasons one and two, this time it isn't so bad. Season three really advanced the show in my opinion, as it featured some of the series' best episodes to date and covered such diverse topics as dumpster babies, retards, and setting people on fire. Not to mention Charlie's superb Pacino as Serpico impersonation. Endless classic moments and infinite replay value.
Though, if you ask me, that's not the best news. There's still no air date yet for the upcoming 13-episode fourth season. Could this be an indication? Typically, DVD releases coincide with the return of new episodes. With The Shield returning on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd, FX would have a nice one-two punch airing It's Always Sunny later in the week. That would make sense too. If I recall, the last season held off its premiere until the fall in the hopes that viewership from the back-on-campus college crowd would help to bolster numbers.

Can't wait for the next season. You have to keep in mind that it was likely pushed a bit by the strike.
S3 was enjoyable, but the workarounds for the limited schedule of DeVito really show through though. Just imagine how much better it would be if they didn't have to deal with the disjointed shooting of all of DeVito's parts in one burst. They also relied a bit too much on "get rich quick" schemes.

Season 4 is supposed to start September 18. This is according to Rob McElhenney (Mac). He and Kaitlin Olson (Sweet Dee) were on the Preston and Steve show, a very popular morning radio show on 93.3 WMMR. The Always Sunny gang has been coming on the Preston and Steve show since the show started on FX. They gave some tidbits on what season 4 has in store, and gave some rough dates and times for on scene shooting this week. Sadly I can't make it out there due to work.
Rob and Kaitlin also announced that they are engaged and going to get married sometime this year.

Jonathan, according to Patrick Walsh, a now occasional blogger for TVSquad sister site Cinematical and recently hired staff writer for the show, It's Always Sunny is coming back September 18th. So, yeah, this DVD date makes perfect sense.
