Now that we're past the rumors of Ryan Seacrest replacing Larry King as host of King's CNN show, Bill Zwecker has another rumor to report: it's Jay Leno who might replace the veteran talk show host.
It's no secret that several networks are interested in Leno after he leaves his NBC show in 2009. Both ABC and FOX have shown interest in offering him a late night spot, and there's even been talk of NBC keeping him in-house to do some sort of new show with them. But Zwecker is reporting that CNN might actually want to grab Leno, give him a show on the network (perhaps even late night), and then when King finally does retire in a few years Leno will be already on the network and ready to take over in the 9pm slot.
Sometimes I wonder if Leno is sitting at home, laughing at all of the rumors and speculation because he really has no intention of doing anything but stand-up and working on his collection of cars.

Leno will go to some other network just to screw over NBC who is showing Leno the door.
And Leno is the only person that could be worse than Larry has the last several years.

That would be terrible. I'd rather see Seacrest get the job.

Wait... Jay Leno does stand up? I thought you had to be funny to do that.
Wait a second, nevermind. Look at Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia... they do stand up, and they aren't funny.

That comment was funnier than any of the three you mentioned. :)

It's funny because Larry king has no intention of leaving. Cable is too small for Leno. I don't think I've ever seen a relatively young guy who has the highest ratings of any late night show for SEVERAL years now get pushed out to make room for Conan who is getting beatin by Craig Ferguson in the ratings. One of the stupidest mistakes NBC has ever made, but I guess if you are the number one network you can afford those mistakes -- wait a minute, they are not even the number one network anymore, they struggle to even get 3rd.

Keep in mind this is the same network that pushed the legend JC out the door for Leno to begin with. It must be Karma. I just hope Leno doesn't go back to movies. I saw about 5 minutes of some movie with him and Mr. Miagi and he was terrible. I don't think he's gonna do anything for at least 3 years besides his stand-up act every now and then. Is he even very good? I've never seen it so I wouldn't know. Didn't he say he hasn't even spent any of his TS money?
