I heard a short story on NPR this weekend about a band called Previously on Lost. Every week, they release a song that recaps each episode of Lost. The band members are Jeff Curtin and Adam Schatz, and they record their songs on Kiss My Arzt Records (ha!). Curtin says they pick the major theme or event of the week and sing about it. One of the funniest songs I heard was for the Desmond-centric episode a few weeks ago when he almost had an aneurysm. It's called "Be My Constant". Curtin says that song is about "love and electro-magnetism".
The style of music is, um... unusual. It sort-of sounds like The Wizard of Oz munchkins meet They Might Be Giants. Or, as their MySpace page says, it sounds like "Every language spoken at the same time." They're definitely fans of the kazoo.
Previously on Lost's first live performance was tonight at 8 PM at the Knitting Factory in NYC. There will be a 7-piece band singing this entire season.

About 2 weeks ago, the Paley Center of Media in NY had a program called "Click Critics: The Power of Fan Websites" and "Previously on Lost" was included as the musical entertainment. They were a lot of fun and very entertaining. The speakers on the panel were from Lostpedia, Whedonesque, Office Talley, Ugly is in, Galactica Sitrep and Television without Pity. I wrote all about the program at http://connectwithyourteens.blogspot.com/2008/05/fan-websites-at-paley-center.html

Well the it sounded funny and a clever idea. But their music just isn't that accessible. It's definitely unique.

Oh dear god no. This can't be the standard for LOST tribute bands. I much rather prefer The Thungs version called The Others (easy name, I know).
